For anyone who doesn't know, the creator of Flappy Birds decided to delete it from the Itunes and anywhere that it can be downloaded due to several reasons. Some of them was he kept getting hate mail and also it is way too addicting. Now there are other reasons that I'm not so sure about so if anyone wants to share those reasons please do so it can help this debate even more. But did the creator of Flappy Birds make a right decision by deleting it? Or should he have kept it?

Deleted it. My friends are way to focused on beating the high score.

I know that he was getting some death threats because of the claims about him using bots to get it as a top app.

Fool. He was earning quite a lot from the game.

It's nice that he was concerned with the users, but he was too naïve: Flappy Bird was a lucky cheap game that has no long-term value. Without any long-term value, the addiction would move onto a different game. Flappy Bird was not big enough of a franchise, unlike Angry Birds, to be powerful and make a statement on the effect of games.

Anyone who thinks he cares about the users is a fool. Nintendo would have gone to him and said "Take it down or we're taking every dollar you've made using our textures". I would like to believe he cares about the users of his game or other Indie game makers, but I dot think people are genuinely that caring.

wtf flappy birds is a garbage game anyway. Why anyone would play it for more then 30 seconds is beyond me. I downloaded it, but considering that it has been removed from the app store, i'll keep it. Maybe I could sell my phone on ebay for x0000 dollars

I've never played the game before, but that's probably a good thing. I found Squishy Bird quite addicting.

The creator said that he was planning to make flappy bird as a game you play when you are calm, and it wasn't supposed to be addicting, and seeing that it did become addicting he thought it was best to take it down. And you know what? It was a good decision, his reasons were noble enough and he probably saved a lot of property damage.

He should have kept it. However, it was his game so he had every right to take it down.

The creator obviously deleted Flappy Bird for respectable reason. However, he lives his own life, and it is a life that we know nothing about, so we cannot make assumptions about the decision he made. Besides, it is his game, a fairly irritating one at that, so he has a right to do what he wants with it. Those who are up in arms against his decision are only attacking his effect that he had on them by taking it off the App Store. Personally, I'm glad that it's gone, as it only fueled the oddities of social customs.

I uninstalled it after getting to the 3rd jump so I can't say much. Pissed me off a lot so I didn't play it. Anyway, no worry to me if I do want to get it back as I can just go on to 4shared and download it there as I have an Android and they're less awkward :D

The creator of Flappy Bird, Dong Nyugen, removed it because he expected the game to be a calm, not at all popular game. It was mostly just a very small project he made. Nyugen claimed to have made it in two to three days. But once it got popular, he feared copyright from Nintendo for the pipes in the game. The pipes used for obstacles in the game were almost completely identical to the pipes in the Mario series. He tried to keep it up, but fear got the best of him, and he took it down. The irony is that Nyugen can still get copyrighted, as many people still have the game on their device, including me.

You can look at his Twitter (@dongatory) to see more on it. He says he is still planning on making more games.

He had every right to take it down, and I'm personally glad he did. That game was trash. I played it for like a day then uninstalled it. It's a complete and utter waste of time

He did the right thing by taking it down. Yeah he may have been making 50,000 a day but if he got sued by Nintendo then all of that would be gone and that's that.

Good riddance he deleted it. Nintendo could've sued him because he used their textures. They probably threatened him so he took it down.

Good. There's way too much garbage in the app store as is.

Legal reasons, how do I know? If it was just the hate mail he would have sold it for a fair amount of money... Unless of course he was being threatened by nintendo.

the 'deletion' stunt gave him more fame as compared to just publishing the game.
