Advice about Masterbation from Church

Have you ever had someone from church advise you about masturbation?

What advice did they give you?

What was your reaction?

We had a meeting just for boys in youth group. The leaders told us that masturbation was a sin and that we shouldn't do it.

I knew that they probably masturbated too but were afraid to admit it.

I thought about it, and felt guilty and tried to stop.

I haven't been able to stop -- Why would God give such a strong need and then ask us not to fill it.

I got advise from a scout leader one on one when we were unpacking from a camp out. He asked me if I wanted to talk about it and I didn't say much but told me that lots of youth don't know that it's ok to masturbate and that he understands than I might need some one to talk to. I was incredibly embarrassed to talk about it. but that talk did make me feel less guilty about it.

I don't go to church often but the times that I have, nothing about it has been brought up.

We've learned in school (I go to a catholic school), about the dangers of pornography, masturbation and sex. Pornography is really bad because it creates more sex trafficking. As far as masturbation goes, you are giving in to your desires rather than controlling them.
I'm not necessarily soliciting or preaching my faith but, I believe that God is all loving and forgiving. It's your choice ultimately to decide if you want to believe if masturbation in sinful or normal. If you think it's sinful, speak to God and ask him for help. It may be awkward to talk to a person but, God is always listening.

Not exactly advice from church but there was a priest that used to come to our school and talk about sex.
He was pretty cool with it to be honest and would say thing like "Yes you're all probably going to have sex outside marriage" blah blah, so he was a lot more modern than most church people.
What he told us about masturbation was just to remember to respect others basically and that porn wasn't real and was bad. He kind of encouraged actual masturbation saying it was healthy done in the right way.

I think he was pretty cool for a priest actually.

And what r the wrong ways to masturbate?

Ok so in regards to the Bible and to Church-yeah
we r taught that it is a sin but really in this time
of online porn and movies and records and whatever
else-u cant go around with a blindfold. U r hit everyday
with something that is going to arouse u and cause u
to want u to get urself off. U cant close urself off to the
world-it is there and anyone saying they don't jack off
cause it is a sin is lying to themselves.

I have a Christian friend who keep saaying to us we shouldnt and Jesus doesnt like it. If God exist I think he/she would have better things to do then punishing you for masturbating and he wouldnt have put your dick an arm length away, it would be on a foot or on your back

No one at church ever told us anything about masturbation. But last year in PE (that's where they talked to us about masturbation), they told us that masturbation is a normal thing for boys our age. But they also told us that some religions consider it a sin. We should let our conscience decide whether we should masturbate or not. I don't consider masturbation is wrong or a sin. I do it all the time when I can. But I respect the decision of other boys who may consider it sin and don't masturbate. To do or not to do it a personal decision for each of us to decide.
