My dad is the only one in my family that is at all fat well overweight. I guess. My younger sisters are 12 and 14 and neither of them are heavy at all tey're like model thin. My mom had 3 kids and she's still slim. And they're not terribly pear shaped either they're more hourglass shaped than anything.. They're like perfect. When I sarted puberty I just got fatter and fatter. I gained a total of 45 lbs so far. Some due to my height difference. Mostly though was excessive. I was told by my dr it's due to excess amounts of estrogen in my blood. I don't get why though that would be the cause as even my sisters and mom and cousins male or female don't have weight issues. It exacerbates this problem for me because I feel like I'm even more faat around them than around general population. I have actually tried things I probably shouldn't just to get a lower weight. But I just hate how I look in clothing. But why would this cause obesity?

When u start into puberty I find that with myself and
my buds and kids at school we lose our baby fat. U should
check with ur doctor ur testosterone level cause that's is the
hormone that determines our male sex characteristics. We do
have esgtrogen in our systems but at a low level. Did ur doctor
do any tests on u? I guess blood work.

Yeah I'm not male biologically though. I am actually intersex or well have an intersex condition so I have less estrogen than my female relatives who didn't gain weight from puberty. But I still think this is abnormal still considering I have gained a lot more weight than normal for anyone in my family male or female. But my dr said it was normal.

U have to listen to ur doctor then. Did u ask ur
doctor why u r heavy or gaining weight? He could
answer ur question.

Sex hormones do play a role in fat storage. In people who are not overweight higher oestrogen in girls means they have a higher percentage of body fat than boys whereas testosterone causes the boys to have less fat.

They also affect where the fat is stored: look at some fat older people and you'll notice the guys have a "beer belly" whereas the women tend to have a big arse, thighs, and bigger breasts. Again this is sex hormones at work.

Energy balance has a role to play as well, though. Anyone who often eats for reasons other than being hungry, for example comfort eating, risks getting fatter.

he said it was because of me having higher levels of estrogen. But I don't get how that is since my female relatives are all very slim even my aunts who have had children on both sides.

the thing is I actually don't hold my fat like either of those examples. That's exactly how my female relatives hold their weight like hourglasses while my dad's more apple. I'm pear or like aubergene shaped like adele sort of. Which is like odd because it's not anywhere in my family maybe that's just how it is getting this fat I wouldn't know as no one in my family is that big.

And I don't overeat I've actually tried only eating once a day or under 600 calories. Hasn't helped that much

I asked my Dad whose a doctor and he said that
high levels of estrogen in teen boys during puberty
can cause a slow metabolism (slowing burning of
calories of the food u eat) and gaining of fat cells
in the chest and stomach region. Its not uncommon
but u should ask ur doctor the same questions that
u asked here. It is something that u inherited from
someone not necessary the female relatives. Ask ur
doctor why u r the way u r. He best knows y.

Think that's it. Through puberty we usually rather tend to become skinnier because of the growing factor.
