View Full Version : Annoying Parents....

So I just got my laptop back. My parents took it away and grounded me for a month because of my grades. I had like two C's. So freaking annoyed still. Does anyone elses parents do this....do you get grounded for c's

I mean, C is a passing grade. But all they want is for you to focus on your education, which is important. I think that even though they're being a little harsh, it's understandable.

I used to get into trouble when I didn't focus enough on my schoolwork.

I haven't got grounded for C's unless I was getting all A's and B's and suddenly my grades starting dropping. Which has happened. Are your grades getting worse or have you always had some C's?

If I live with my mom, I would be grounded if I get just a A- or so.

Luckily I decided to live with my dad. He's isn't interested in school grades as long as I pass my exams.

As someone who has been honor roll their entire life, the minute my grades start to slip even a little, my mother is all over me. She always says to me, "Oh, I had a few C's in high school, it's ok if you have one or two." But then she flips out as soon as I drop a few digits while still being in the B- range. That's what really annoys me. It really stresses me out, too. Sometimes I'd like to take a C+ and not be made to feel like I failed the entire world.

Just what parents do, I guess. Not much to do about it.

My parents make me feel guilty for my grades. I could have a high F in ONE CLASS and if it doesn't change, my dad yells at me and my mom plays the "oh woe is me" card. Like lol be glad I'm in school doing work and not on the fucking streets pregnant.

Right?! What the actual fuck? I'm expected to memorize 12 complete pages every week in addition the all the other stuff, and if my grades slip my parents will start accusing me of using the computer too often to my own detriment. They could literally take a look out the window and find teenage thugs running around, smoking/taking drugs/whatever. Now what would they have done if I were one of them?

At this point I don't tell them any of my grades (which are usually high), let alone the bad ones. It's my business and honestly, I don't give a fuck as long as I'm passing.

I used to. I think this parenting method doesn't work great. I believe in productive discipline. More chores, cleaning, etc. taking things away just creates resentment from the child. Why do something that harms the child, when instead, you can still teach them a lesson and get something productive done.

Unfortunately my district has this site that was literally made by the Devil himself that allows parents to access their child's grades and email their teachers. I would make a petition to remove it but nothing'll happen...

Ah lmao we have that too, but I simply haven't given my parents the password required to access the site. :D

Parents are allowed to make an account and "follow" their children. You can "challenge" a parent, but you'll be reprimanded...

A grade C is a passmall, but obviously they want you to do better. Aspire high and you will get those As.

I'm glad to see I am not the only one. I am around a b average student. But this year I'm taking advanced courses. The teachers are happy if a kid is passing with a C in AP....my parents just don't understand that.

Parents have expectations, but they rarely understand the reality of school. The worst part is, they've forgotten what it's like to be a teen and student. And so, they expect from you that you are mature enough to focus on what's essential: namely, what they see as essential. Usually being a A-level student or such.

But the fact that puberty has a much greater impact on your life and you sometimes will have different priorities, they are ignoring constantly. That's cause it's just a adults world we live in.

They should just talk to you
Or get you a tutor
Punishment is NOT the right approach.

Well I don't know for a C. Definitely I'd be punished for a D, although not by grounding - they don't do 'soft' punishment lol.

:( I know how you feel. What do they do to discipline you? I can't wait to be older!

Usually just ground me, take away my tablet, my phone, restrict my internet access. My dad is an it guy for the army so he is really good at that sort of thing.
