So this week there's no school for winter recess. I'm home alone most of the time because it's winter and I'm not going to be hanging outside much when its 30 degrees. My Mom called me from work twice today already to check up on me. What does she think I'm gonna do? She did the same thing yesterday. I'm 14 not 4. I hardly ever do stupid things.

She is just concerned. It's a mother's job to worry.

My mother used to do that to me when I was home alone, too. Maybe try talking to her and politely suggesting that she not hover so much? If she trusts you, then she should understand. It might take a little while for her to accept it, however. My mom had a hard time understanding that I was old enough to take care of myself for the most part when I'm home alone, although she never thought I would do anything extreme. That's just a mother for ya.

Okayyy! I won't let it bother me. Thanks Jake and Elise. :)

My mom does the same, except she texts me instead of calling. She doesn't call very frequently (she works till 5 pm).

Although it's annoying, I think that's still better than she gives you any pointless tasks to do, as presumably my mom would do. Just to keep you busy.

Oh true, all I'm required to do is not let my room get too disgusting haha.

My first impulse on your post was to advise you to tell your mom: "Not now mother, I'm busy ... I'm wanking as hell."
Just as a kind of therapeutic shock therapy by phone or such. Worked for me twice using other terms.
But then I thought that it could've more than just a counterproductive affect on you. :D

It'll all ease up over time. When i was home alone a couple years or 3 ago I'd be called a couple times with the excuse of "I arrived/I'm leaving back home" to check on me, and I just told my mom not to worry, i'm all fine, and I'd call if I ever need anything. It won't go away completely as she just wants to see how you are, not taking into account you're home alone, but as said, just let her know you're good and tell her you don't want her to loose time calling you from work

Your mum is just checking on you I get its annoying but she must have her reasons for doing so. Speak to her about it

Her intentions are good. She just cares and is worried. However, I don't think it's healthy for your growth. It bugged the shit out of me but, noticed it stopped when I turned 16.

Yeah, I mean she probably thinks that already so it wouldn't be such a big shock.

oh, you got a helicopter mom then? that kinda sucks. If my mom bothers me, I ignore her the most, even if it means trouble. But I also have my dad as a back up, he always says to her: "The boy needs space!"
And then they quarrel about it for a while and forget me entirely. So I'm fine. Thanks, dad! :-)
