Okay, I want to get this straight, and I want an opinion from everybody (I know this will spark discussion). What is the maximum age difference between you and your partner (or potential partner) that you would allow?
Personally, I'm thinking 3 years below me at the most, and maybe up to 2 years above me (this is also preference).
I think it'd be interesting to see the different opinions from people
Edit: If you have another method, such as the rule (age/2)+7, then post it below!
Also, I know that some people like me probably have different rules for above and below, so feel free to comment that below as well!

Depends what age you are for me. If you're 14 then one year either way is pushing it. Im 18 and, personally, I'd go 3 years older and maybe 1 year younger but my preference is someone older than me.

Never dated anyone more than a year younger than me. I dated my grade or older (4 years). Now in relationship with a guy my age.

from 16 till 19 for me. I am about to turn 18 so that is -2 or +1.
I want someone with a certain level of independence and seriousness that I think is hard to find with anyone under 16, at least in a way that fits my personality

Probably 2 years younger and three or four years older than me. These are all blurred lines though because i can't predict who i end up clicking with but i have a feeling it won't be anyone over an age gap of five years because i might find it hard to relate to him because i would prefer a person who's on a similar boat as me mentally, financially, emotionally and possibly physically as years elapse.

I've always been against the idea of dating someone waaaaaaaay younger than me. I usually date 1 to 2 years younger, but that's probably the furthest I'd stretch. Older is a little different, I've been with someone 4/5 years older, but that was when I was 14 so that's a little weird anyway. Anyway, at the age I am now, that opens up a bigger gap so I would potentially go up to 10 years.

My current boyfriend is almost three years older than me. He is 19, but I've noticed that he's more mature than my best friend's boyfriend who is 20 years old. Therefore it's pretty hard to set on an actual amount of years. I'd say roughly 5 years older and up to a year younger would be my maximum, but I'm really not sure.

I'm 17. I'd date a 19 year old. I don't have problems with dating a 14 year old because she looks younger but, because she might not be emotionally mature or mentally mature. If a 14 year old was emotionally and mentally mature, then I would.
After I turn 18 in July, things would change. 28 max. 16 min. I can't be legally an adult (in some cases) and dating a kid. Anything over 28 is too old. I'd want to stay within a year or two older but, I wouldn't mind going with someone older.
I don't really care just as long as it's not weird and we are mentally on the same level.

I had to say 2. If I selected 3 it would mean I could have a partner that was 12 or 18 which is a bit much.

I typically never date anyone younger than me. My previous girlfriend was about 2.5 years younger than me, and it was exhausting because it was so evident that she was younger in the things she would say or do. Of course, if I really, really liked the person, I may date them. In my current relationship, my girlfriend is a year older than me, and right now that's as much older as I would go.

1 year younger max.
4 years older max.
The oldest person I've dated was a year and a half older than me. I haven't dated anyone younger than me yet.

Yeah I really think this depends on age.
I don't think i'd date anyone younger than me. Boys even my age are much less mature than I am, so younger... I just can't see it working out. When I was single I was convinced about 25 would be the youngest I would go for, so 5 years older than myself. I wanted a guy who had his shit together and wasn't just going to drop me because he decided commitment was too much after 4 years and living together (yeah that's what happened to the last guy I went out with my age). My boyfriend now is just over 2 and a half years older than me, so he's 23 next week, but mature for his age. That's about as young as I would go.
So basically i'd go for between 2 and 10 years older than me, and no younger.

I should probably clarify I'd date someone 5 years older than me, not younger. I'd go like a year younger than me.

Age matters less as you get older, but I find myself attracted to guys closer to my age. The oldest guy I've been with was 29 going on 30, or about 11 years older than me.

At my age it starts to matter way less :P As far as older goes.
I'd have a hard time dating someone more than a year younger just because of legal issues. However, if they were mature and we could keep things safe, or it was legal (because it is in some places) I guess I COULD date someone as much as three years younger but I highly doubt that I would.
On the older end, it'd be probably something like 5-7 maximum, but even then, as long as we clicked I don't think it'd matter. My sister married someone ten years older at my age and they are great together. It's not an impossibility.

I just turned 22, so with that in mind I would be uncomfortable with anyone over 25 because it would likely feel weird. Two years younger would probably be the max, however I would drop that down to 18 or 19 if they were really mature for their age, but in all honesty 20 would be the number.

I'm currently 19 and the youngest I've slept with at this age is 15 but I wouldn't go out with anyone younger than 16 so 3 years. The oldest I've been with is 24 which is five years but I'd be open to older. It would partially depend on the individual person as to how old I'd be willing to date as well.
