I like someone

Hey, guys. So there is this guy I like who is in my class. At first I thought he looks terrible but soon I started to like him. He is soo athletic and cool And plays basketball. He also takes breakdancing lessons ( which is why I decided not to take them :( )but idk how to talk to him. He likes basketball and we have some mutual friends. I am not sure how to start the conversation coz I think I might make it obvious I like him. I am not sure if it's a crush or I just feel this way randomly. It's been 6 months and we have only spoken like 6 times. I wanna be his friend for now. My friends say only I can make that possible. :3

Any advice what to do? I don't know how to start the conversation. I am confused.
I gotta tell him one of his friends (who is also my friend) wants to hang out with him on Tuesday and I will be there too. Not sure how to talk or what to do!! Help!!!

Is there anything you have in common that you can talk about?
You could perhaps ask him for help with a particular piece of homework or discuss anything you have in common eg sports, music etc.

I did once have a 'crush' on a guy and I was in a similar situation but I think it turned out that I just found him awesome rather than actually liking him and it could be the same for you. But you should definitely at least try to be friends.

About Tuesday: just say yo him that his mate invited you along with them. Then it's not too obvious that you're trying to tag behind that guy. And be friendly with both of them. Then it's also not obvious that you're aiming towards him.
Just try to get friendly first and get to know him more

Try to make a friend first: that's a great way to get to know someone. Heck, being a little flirtatious won't hurt, just try and strike up a conversation based on something that you both like, or some schoolwork, or whatever. Use honesty to your advantage, make some jokes, just, be yourself - because that's all you can be. Love is someone liking you for you, not liking a representation of something else.
