I'm probably or definitely over-analyzing the situation. But I noticed whenever I talked, this guy would stare at me. Like, not in a mean way, just a look. Is that normal or... maybe he found me annoying haha.

Also, there was a brief period of time where him and I looking at each other and smiling. It was really awkward...

Okay, so it's eight days later, and I'm wondering if I should text him? I got his number from a mutual friend. Would it be weird if I texted him? Or should I not?

If I could get your age that would honestly help a lot, because I know that interactions change with age.

But I would text him asking if it's actually him, and then when he replies yes say something like "Oh thank god, I was worried I might message some random creep" and make random conversation of whatever happens (or speculate on what would've happened if you did message some random creep, but keep it light-hearted)

Just get to know him, chat with him a bit and you'll be fine. If he asks where you got the number just be honest, tell him the truth and add in something like "I hope it's not too weird/creepy", and perhaps tell him it's because you kind of like him and you'd like to get to know him better, and perhaps even date.

A bit jet-lagged at the moment, so my advice is probably about 70% of what it normally is, but feel free to message me if you have questions

I'm 16, he's 17.

Thanks for the advice!

I would probably not respond unless I was interested. So go ahead and give it a shot.

Sounds like he might be interested, at least curious, but the only way to find out is to ask him. You dont have to do it outright, but maybe ask some probing questions and see how he answers. I dont know about texting him because he didnt give you his number, you got it from someone else and they might not have had his permission to share it with anyone. Maybe you can ask him for his number or you can give him yours and see if he texts you or call you sometime. In order to find these things out, youre going to have to put yourself out there in a way -- take a chance.

You could shoot him a text, see how it goes. I mean might as well. But like they said above, I'd ask him for his number to prevent the awkwardness of "how did you get my number?"
