Does this bother anyone when someone says "love you" versus "I love you."

It bothers me when someone says "I hate you so much I will grab an octopus tentacle and wrap it around your neck, then dip you in a pool full of ketchup, and drag you in peacock feathers".
But "love you" or "I love you"... not so much. Some relatives/close friends don't even say it to me at all so I don't bother.

I think I love you is better then just love you. I feel like love you is kind of meh, like they are saying it but not meaning very much.

I don't think it makes a difference, personally.

I say "I love you" to my family and my boyfriend, but I say "love you" to my friends and other not so close family members when the occasion calls for it.

There is a difference IMO. When you say it with an I it becomes a lot more intimate and personal vs just saying it wo the I. Both represent the same thing but it's a matter of how casual it is or how personal it is.

I have said them both, but in different context to different people.
To me, "Love You" is something I would say to my friends to let them know I care and I have their back.
"I Love You" is a bit more intimate and I think that sentiment should only be shared with your romantic partner.

Yeah I agree with everyone saying the 'I' makes it more personal. I tend to stick to 'love you' as a whole.

I tend to say I love you, instead of love you. I just seriously don't find the point of skipping one letter. It's like when people used to type 2-morrow instead of tomorrow. What is the point???? It takes little to no effort to type tomorrow and it feels more personal.
That's how I feel about I love you vs love you.

Every little thing bothers me, including differences in word patterns when people speak to me. So like for example if a family member/friend has always said 'I love you' and then one day they just said a brief 'love you', I would be pretty disturbed. I'd probably think that they're a bit upset/annoyed with me or something. However, in general I don't mind whether or not people include 'I'. I always say 'I love you' to friends, but with family we don't really express affection/love. I just think that the word 'I' is so empowering and strong, no matter the context.

i say "love you" to most friends, but say "i love you" to parents, brother and best friend. means just a little more to me even tho my other friends know i do love them but in a different way

I only say ' I love you' to people who I have quite strong feelings for, I usually say 'love you' to my general friends as a joke

for those who do tell people either version, did you find it difficult to start, like with friends?
my family has always told each other so it was natural for me to say it to my friends. it was difficult for them to say it to me for a long time. did you find the same thing?

I think adding 'I' makes it more loving, more like a personal connection.

I don't care, I don't say that I love anyone and no-one says it to me. I'm not the type of person to broadcast my feelings so vocally.
