I think the black dog is the best metaphor for depression that I've come across. I want people to know: I agree that if we can all start to accept and embrace our black dogs, we can be okay with ourselves and whatever we're feeling. The healing, or in regard to the black dog, the heEling of depression begins with learning not to let it control us and weigh us down. Instead of having our feet heavy in life, we have to stop and look depression right in the eye. It's okay to have depression, so long as we don't let it drag us down. Our black dogs were never easy to train, but that is why we must push for it. We must have determination and faith in not yielding to the black dog. We are the masters and we must remember that. But thank you for this video, I really appreciated watching it~

Ive seen the black dog metaphor before and its definitely a good one to try to explain to other people to help them understand. I have another good one to add, its a live slam poem describing depression.
