Okay so I have known my buddy Daisy for about a year and we know each other well. Not well enough to be best friends, but more than mere acquaintances. We have spent time outside of work. We have gone to grab coffee together, bought candy, and ate at a sandwich place. Last July she said, "we should go on a movie date." We never went on one. Another day she went through the trouble of buying me chocolate covered gummy bears. I think she knows I like her. But never going on the movie date puts me in the Friendzone. Especially since she wants to pay for everything. She bought me lunch the other day.

My friends at work say she is talking to another guy. I have seen them walking together sometimes, but I do not think they are dating just yet. I am suspicious. We started talking again and it led to me loaning her a book of mine to read. She was really excited and smiled. The last few times I have seen her she continues to remind me that she does not have my number anymore. When she got a new phone, her contacts were erased and she lost my number. I think it is strange that she wants my number that badly. I am not getting my hopes up just yet. But what does this all mean? Does she want to just be better friends? Has she taken an interest in me? Does she like me?

I think you've mentioned this before. You need to ask directly, she's at least interested in a closer friendship. But you are moving too slow.

Nothing you have mentioned so far in your post gives me a clear sign of her wanting to be your girlfriend. She is just being friendly, and nice. Even with her asking for your number.

And why didn't you on a movie date? Try asking her maybe, maybe that could give you some real actual insight on whether she wants to take things further with you, otherwise you're left guessing like I am right now too.
