I'm gay and even my friends who know my sexuality use such words in front of me too. They dont really want to insult me , thats just a habit for them to use such words . I dont really care about that . But if someone start making fun of gays directly , i personally would fight for my own rights infront of him/her.

I hate it when people in my school say statements like: "Thats so gay." in replacement to the word "unfair" or "ridiculous" etc. I'm sorry, I don't recall when the word "gay" meant "unfair" or "ridiculous" etc...

Fag is such a horrible word even when using it when referring to a cigarette in the UK but more so towards a gay person.

I don't like the word fag, it is just a gross word. Same as the user above, I don't like using that word to refer to cigarettes either. I don't care about the homophobic connotations personally but I guess if you're offended by that stuff then it must suck, especially if you're being directly insulted by it. I find it very immature when people have to resort to name calling and especially when they use the word fag. When I hear people using it against other people I usually speak up against it. The last person that used it against me got his ass kicked bad. Havent had a problem since.

Well i can definitely tell you it's made him think twice about calling someone that in the future. You obviously can't educate some people, what other option do you have to show them that they are wrong?
