(If this is in the wrong forum, feel free to move it)
In the course of a discussion at school today, an interesting topic came up which piqued my interest. I'm studying World Religions, and of course somebody brought up the topic of masturbation. Without starting unnecessary argument, I'd like to do a survey of sorts regarding faith practices and habits. It seems that every major faith (Christianity, Judiasm, Islam/Muslim) forbids masturbation by both genders on the basis of disloyalty/lust/fornication.
Feel free to skip any questions which you aren't comfortable answering

If you associate with a faith, which? Do you consider yourself "actively practicing"?

Do you masturbate? How frequently?

If you consider yourself "of a faith", why do you continue/not?

What are your views on faiths prohibiting masturbation?

Any other comments?

I grew up in a Mormon community, as a Baptist Christian myself. A lot of these folks' (Mormon) behaviour, kindhearted as they are, tend to emphasize the tendency of people to separate religious and social life; since these people mostly don't practice what they preach when dealing with the doings of the other aspects of their daily routine. The church I went to observe shamed a lot of basic sexual acts; masturbation being amoung the main.

And then, at my high-school, a lot of my classmates who are members at the church either joke or seriously discuss how they jack off and how they blast jizz and stuff; almost as if they weren't even part of LDS Sunday service!

I understand that teens will be teens, but regretfully, they are at least a vague reflection of religious denominations (and specifically the Mormon church?); since this is really not too different than my own Southern Baptist denomination. I suppose we are more rigid than our Mormon counterparts, but in actuality, I think we do it more crazily; because it is a natural behaviour that is banned and stigmatized.

As an epilogue, I have since left the church. As an over-sexed brat, I can never give up masturbation. It feels too good. ^-^

If you associate with a faith, which? my faith is atheism
Do you consider yourself "actively practicing"? of course

Do you masturbate? yepp
How frequently? as often as I'm in the mood to do so

If you consider yourself "of a faith", why do you continue/not? because I'm horny. that beats any religious restriction.

What are your views on faiths prohibiting masturbation? .I call it bigoted

Any other comments? To all believers: God created nature. And nature enables us to masturbate. So masturbation is God's will.

If you associate with a faith, which? Do you consider yourself "actively practicing"?

I am a proud, practicing catholic.

Do you masturbate? How frequently?

Once a day

If you consider yourself "of a faith", why do you continue/not?

Masturbation is a vice and an addiction.

What are your views on faiths prohibiting masturbation?

Masturbation is a natural human urge. It's best to fight that urge but if we can't, Jesus is a merciful lord and he forgives all.

Any other comments?

I understand that many people may disagree with my beliefs and if so I do not intend to offend anyone.

If you associate with a faith, which? Christian, non denominational church which is also non discriminating, and non condemning which preaches and practices love and acceptance and the worship of the Trinity :)

Do you consider yourself "actively practicing"? Yes

Do you masturbate? How frequently? several times a week :yeah:

If you consider yourself "of a faith", why do you continue/not? faith has nothing to do with my natural needs

What are your views on faiths prohibiting masturbation? ridiculous

Any other comments? no one should feel any guilt over masturbating, it is not wrong, it provides release, it is not harmful to anyone

If you associate with a faith, which? Do you consider yourself "actively practicing"? Yes, active Christian

Do you masturbate? How frequently? Yes, 1-2 daily

If you consider yourself "of a faith", why do you continue/not? I continue because I dont view it as s sin and my particular church does not teach us that it is a sin either

What are your views on faiths prohibiting masturbation? I think its a major misinterpretation of what was written, taken way out of context

Any other comments? What was written in the bible back then can not be applied to life today in a literal sense because it would take us backwards. I think its more figurative than literal.

If you associate with a faith, which? Do you consider yourself "actively practicing"? I'm a practising Catholic

Do you masturbate? How frequently? I masturbate 1-2 times a day

If you consider yourself "of a faith", why do you continue/not? I enjoy masturbating and don't think that there is anything sinful about it

What are your views on faiths prohibiting masturbation? I disagree with my faith's teachings on it but I respect the church's views on it because they are just teaching what they think is right without affecting anyone else who doesn't want to subscribe to those teachings.
