View Full Version : Difference between men's and women's shirt?

I got this shirt recently. Well, I think it's a shirt. It's like a really thin hoodie. The bottom of the shirt is split at the sides, where my hips are. Does that mean it's a women's shirt? It may sound like a dumb question, and I only ask because I've only seen this on a women's shirt.

I got this from the men's section of the store. However, I recently accidentally bought a women's shirt at the men's section of this same store, so I'm skeptical of how well they organize the shirts based on gender.

I feel like my explanation of the shirt was a bit vague, but I didn't know how to describe it. Here's a picture:

I think guys can have shirts with splits on the sides. If you got in the men's department then I wouldn't worry about it.

Well, I got a women's shirt in the men's section of the same store, and not too long ago. So that happening again wouldn't surprise me so much, but thank you.

Does the store have a website? If so see if it's online in the men's dep.

Womens shirts have shorted/tilted sleeves (typically) and thinner waists to fit curves (likewise with hoodies and sweaters), while mens do not. The split could be unisex because I've gotten hoodies like that for guys, so I think its just the design.

Does it really matter what gender your shirt is advertised as? Sometimes there are differences, like The F.M. Mars said, but as long as it fits and it's comfortable, does it matter if it's marketed towards men or women?

I'd prefer not to wear women's clothing.

...just because it's marketed towards women? I mean, if it's something fitted like in the picture The F.M. Mars included, it probably wouldn't fit you very well or comfortably. But otherwise..?

I like men's clothing. I've never worn women's clothing, no need to start now.

If you like it, what's the problem? You'd put it back just because its marketed towards women? A lot of clothes are unisex now anyway, the non-fitted stuff especially, so honestly there's no big difference.

To answer your question. Yeah I've seen the cut on 'mens' clothes before so you don't need to feel emasculated or whatever.

You're not really answering the question...
