I have to shave every other day if I don't want a 5 o'clock shadow. However when I do I get pimples on my bottom lip, upper lip, around my Adams Apple, on my cheeks, chin, under my chin and where my side burns are. It doesn't happen all over every single time. But it does haooen alot on my bottom and upper lip and around my adams apole. And I know it is hair related because when I pop the pimples there is a hair. It isn't ingrown, the hair it just going above the skin.

Someone said it has to do with what direction that you shave. I don't know if that is true because I have shaved with the grain and against it and it still happens.

Yes I do use shaving cream and I let it sit for a few minutes to soften the hair a bit and I do was my face before I shave to prevent possible bacterial infection. I use new razors everytime. Anyone have advice? Because there are times it can be uncomfortable, borderline painful.

Maybe ur sensitive to the brand of shaving crème u r using.
Try another brand and c if u don't get an irritation-and another
thought is that u may be developing acne. I wash my face with
Noxzema or Pear soap. It is a bit expensive but it helps with
the skin.

I use noxzema too, my mom kinda got on me about using it. It did help, but I am still getting it. As for shaving cream I use Barbasol for sensitive skin. I have also used Gillette and several other brands. Still happens.

Try using a razor with only one or two blades rather than like 4-5.

I still say u may b starting with acne. If it keeps up I would talk
to ur doctor bout it-u shouldn't have raw skin after shaving unless
the skin is already sensitive. Shave carefully-u might b shaving too hard.
My dad cant use barbasol cause he breaks out-just to let u know. I still
would try a BAR SOAP like Noxzema to wash ur face everyday-it might
b an oily prob causing it.

As I said in the above post, I also have used Noxzema, maybe I should again. I may have a sensitivity to Barbasol. I will see if mom can buy a different brand when she goes shopping on Friday.

Depends what one you use, if you use normal stuff on your balls they will burn, if you use stuff branded for the face or sensitive skin if will be fine. I have personal experience.

I would say you need to do a couple of things to solve your problem.

1) You should try different brands of facial cleansers to see if you can get better results. Different brands work for different people, and I would suggest you try Johnson & Johnson and other products to finally come onto something will help with this issue. It probably would not be a bad idea to see your doctor and/or dermatologist for advice, too.

2) Pre-shaving products are the key to ensuring that you do not get irritation on your face, and make sure you are using a good pre-shave product. The "Art of Shaving" stores have a lot of good products you might want to give a try.

3) You might want to try different types of razors to see which works best for you. Gillettes are good ones, but try Schick, Bic, etc. to see what works best for you. Your issue might be the brand of razor you're using.

4) You probably should go with a shaving gel as opposed to a shaving cream. Stick to the gels that are for sensitive skin to see if that helps you.

5) I would go to a barber and get a shave to see if your problem happens after that. If after a barber shave you do not have irritation, then your issue might be in the way you are shaving which might need to be adjusted.

Your problem is pretty common, and if things do not improve, then go to a dermatologist to see if there is an underlying skin problem.

I dont shave my face, so I cant relate to that part of shaving, but try moisturizing your face after you shave, use something like mineral oil or baby oil -- it works for me when I shave my pubes.

I think it is safe to say that while pubes and facial hair are both coarse, facial hair grows in a certain direction as where pubes don't. I know my pubes don grow in any one direction. Thanks though.

Make sure you shave with the grain, not against it, or you will get ingrown hairs, which look like pimples.

Try to take a hot shower before, use more shaving cream and maybe buy better racers with more lubrication. I get those bumps sometimes but since I started using more expensive racers I've had it less
