We talk daily about various personal issues/thoughts, but how can I tell if they want more? I don't want to ignore it and make them suffer being unable to express themselves.

Well normally online it's the little gestures like way too many smiley faces (unless that's just them) or flirting (unless that's just them) or if they delve into their personal space sometimes with you. If you think they may be interested (And hey, if you want to too) then you should ask her if she does. When I say that I don't mean a "Hey do you like me? Just wondering lol" because she would probably like "aha no?" or I don't know, it's awkward. Ask her little questions and eventually, you will get some kind of web...If that makes sense

She has explained a lot of personal issues, which is apparently something she don't usually do. I think the flirting is sort of a joke? I don't know, actually. I've asked her questions that'd sort of get a mini answer, and then I'd piece them together, but I've got no idea. Any other way I can find out?

Not really. Online interest is generally only shown by very very subtle signs and hints. You either gotta be a master at deciphering them or you just need to Skype with her and ask her straight out. Luck

I have been skyping with her (without voice - too shy apparently) but I sort of don't want to ask in case it ruins our friendship or makes it awkward, plus I like her a whole lot but due to various reasons I sort of wouldn't want it to be anything more.

Its more of a skill but to get to basics she will show interest in what you say and also care about you. If she changes a bit in the way she communicates(so how she says, use of emotes). It is a lot harder to tell these things over the internet so I dont blame you for asking. I dont have to do this often but you can normally tell from instinct.

If you don't want it to be anything more then set that clear if she expresses anything, if she doesn't just don't mention it and stay as friends, it is the most direct and honest option.

Body language is the biggest thing. It can be super subtle, like a touch on the arm, if they're kinda fidgety around you, or if they stare into your eyes a lot. Also if they laugh at lame jokes you tell thats a big hint

Good enough for me! Thanks!
