So I was talking to my brother the other day and I asked him about this girl he like and I said to him "So have you ever gotten a boner around her?" he looked at me and never answered. This has happened on more than one occasion too. He's 17 and I'm 16. Why doesn't he talk about that kind of stuff with me? Shouldn't he be able too, like is it something I'm doing wrong?

Well he might not be as open to it as you are. Perhaps he is not confident in his body or his sexuality altogether. It is normal for friends to talk about those sorts of things, but it is different among family members. He is older and more experienced. He might think it is an awkward subject for two brothers. My brother and I rarely talk about puberty related things.

SillyShyGuy is right. But really only you know. You didn't say, are you guys close or not (like in general, not just private and puberty stuff)? I mean if you guys don't get along I wouldn't be surprised that he doesn't want to share. But if you guys are great friends then it could be a bunch of things, but I would guess he's just shy/private.
You can always just ask him. Say, "hey, you didn't answer me, did you hear me? Or are you ignoring me? Don't be a dick. I just have a question about boners" lol

Yes were basically best friends. We do anything and everything together. We've talked about this stuff before and I'm getting different answers. Why is he lying to me.. i don't know. Ive asked him about it and he hasn't said anything. I don't know what to do. Shouldn't I be able to talk to my own brother about this stuff? I don't always wanna talk with friends about it.

Well if you're best friends you should be able to. Especially if you've done it before. Basically the ONLY thing you can do is ask him, basically using the same words you said here. Say like " we're like best friends and I really need you to help me with some questions ... ". My best friend and I made a brutal honesty pact. We will be 100% honest with each other even if it may hurt feelings. We won't ignore each other, etc. That said, we're guys so there are some things we won't tend to talk about like emotional girls do lol.

Or I could just save you time and tell you, yes if he likes this girl, he definitely gets boners around her lol.

I would say just drop that line of conversation with him he wants to discuss his boner or his girl friend or even anything about puberty he will bring the subject up so I say leave it alone and continue to be the best of mates

I can imagine it being quite awkward for some people, especially family. I know for a fact that I'd never talk about getting a boner with my brother.

some people just don't talk about that kind of stuff, even brothers. no one is in the wrong, just a difference of comfort about that type of stuff

He may feel uncomfortable talking with you. If you start talking about being a teen guy around him, he might do the same.

I would say he is shy bout talking bout it-don't hound him
bout his girl-if he wants to talk he will talk-just continue
being good bros. I would also say that u can ask him that
u have some questions bout changes u r going through and
if I ask u some of these questions can u talk bout it-but Don't
ask bout his girlfriend for now.
