Gynecologist did weird test to me?

I went to my doctor because of a pain in my belly, just where the ovaries are. Well he send me to a specialist (Gynecologist), and my cousin recommended me hers. My concern is that he start what I think is a normal routine check-up to me before he told me to lay down with my knees on my chest and start putting inside me one finger in my vagina and another in my rectum.??? Why he did that? I asked him and he said, its normal procedure to check the ovaries. Well I had a minor inflammation in one of them. I just wonder if anyone had this test too? Maybe this have to go in another topic thread?

It sounds pretty normal to me. Gynecological examinations can differ from doctor to doctor, and there are several different kinds, which involve the use of different tools and procedures. If you really feel uncomfortable, maybe next time you could request a female doctor.

I'm sure Google might help find an answer too, but it doesn't seem likely he just did it for kicks...

Usually they put your legs on these bar things called stirrups and those hold your legs apart and he should also be wearing a glove on his hand. But ya, might be different in different countries. I know that here where I live the dr would send you for an ultrasound first before a specialist because there is a huge wait list.

Sounds routine to me. Especially since you were referred there because you were having pain near your ovaries.
