Apple TV and Air Play quality

Just last night, I bought an Apple TV and hooked it up to my computer (2012 Macbook Pro) via airplay. A problem I had was the picture quality. Everything was lower quality. The icons on the dock were more pixely and images were also pixely. I tried 2 different HD MI cables, one being better quality than the other, but saw no difference.

Is there any way I can improve the quality?

Since you seem to love Apple so much, :P I thought I should tell you that I fixed it myself. Now it plays in 1080p.

I just don't like them because they seem to have to many problems for me. and usually they build them like a vault. if you spill water on it you cant take the battery out fast. and there's never any games for them.
