Just like the US in the past, smoking has become commonplace in China. This time they know it's harmful. I've read reports that smoking, even though it's decreasing in the West, it's increasing especially in Asia and Eastern Europe. I find this pretty sad because two of my grandparents died of lung cancer (but only one smoked. The other was exposed to agent Orange). Hopefully they can curb this problem. Otherwise they will suffer a public health issue that we had except on a much larger scale.

No matter what, there will always be people that smoke and other people with suffer as a consequence. People think they look cool smoking which leads to other people thinking it's cool but it's not. They just come off as bloody idiots.

Tobacco smoke makes me sick. I have no idea how some people are able to tolerate it.

their air quality is really poor already what with all that smog and pollution. I'd say the average Chinese citizen already inhales a good dose of irritants/carcinogens whether they smoke or not.

also lol at their cigarette companies being state-owned. I'm not sure how they plan on ramping up a public health campaign when it's the very same government that also produces cigarettes.
