Hey,
I have depression issues, like a lot of us. Sometimes I just feel like shit, I self harmed because I thought it would help (stupid thing to do, I know). I was just wandering what "un-depresses" you, what cheers you up? I get sad, most of the time, for no particular reason at all. I have several close friends, I love them a lot but sometimes whatever they try to do to make me feel better about myself, it doesn't work... What helps you? Anything to take my mind off deep, sad topics?

Having been depressed for over 8 years I know the feeling or lack of feeling. I wish I could tell you some magic trick to be "normal" but the only thing I can say is a short quote/story that I read every day. It's on my phone and written everywhere in my notebooks. Hold on it gets manageable and barely noticeable once you realize that it's ok to feel down.
Grief is like a shipwreck. When you first crash the waves are knocking into you making you fall. Eventually you find a boat but the waves are still slamming into you. Over time the waves are less powerful and you begin to find you're evening out on your boat. Although the waves continue to rock your boat, you begin to see when they are coming and can brace for them. Even though you are prepared though storms are unpredictable and will occasionally surprise you.
Depression is very similar. It can feel like you are drowning and are lost. You just need to find that boat and weather out the waves. Personally I just hang out with my friends when I'm sad and one especially helps me through the wave.

for be running helps or working out in general- but sometimes that's hard to do because my depression keeps me from being motivated. but music has helped me so much. I also go to therapy and take medication. unfortunately there isn't just an off switch that makes a person "undepressed" it takes a lot of effort and communication but it is possible so don't let your demons tell you that there's no hope. we are here for you
