Okay so if you look at my older posts you can see that I have this friend that I constantly talk about but I'll give a brief overview
We are both guys and we both say we're straight (I think I might be bi romantic but that's besides the point) were both pretty good friends but he acts kind of gay around me like he will touch my butt jokingly or get really close to me and stuff
We're both really affectionate and say I love you to eachother and hug and stuff.
So for Christmas he got us tickets to see a musical (I am obsessed with musical theatre and he knows that) and he said it's just the two of us and he is driving and we're going to get dinner before the show
And it sounds a lot like a date.... Which I would be completely fine with, even kind of excited about. Does this sound like I'm reading too much into it? What do you think?

I'd say you should go into it with no expectations. Just see how he's acting and if it's in a romantic way, great. But if it's not, you haven't made a fool of yourself by acting weird because you assumed it was a date.
Basically, if he's doing it as a date, you'll know, and be able to act accordingly.
I'm going to say that yes, it might be a date, but don't use my opinion to dictate your decision because obviously, I don't know the situation in it's entirety.
Good luck!

Just go with things! Either way, you'll have a good time with him regardless!

That just sounds like normal guy behavior - my teammates all do that and I never really think much of it anymore
We're both really affectionate and say I love you to eachother and hug and stuff.

My opinion - he is probably trying to use it as a date, or at least to test the water to see if dating is practical. As far as an actual date, it has all the "marks" of what I personally would consider a date if it involved myself and a girl. Dinner, a night out, just us two, etc.
Just go with the flow. Take hints of what he's doing and how he's handling what you're doing. Like has been said, you'll probably be able to tell if he's taking it as a date.

WELL.... He has a girlfriend now so this apparently isn't a date. Thank you guys for your input though
