An off-duty officer shot and killed rapper "Donkey Cartel," who opened fire at Northlake Mall in Charlotte, North Carolina, sending last-minute Christmas Eve shoppers into a panic.
Gunfire erupted after a group of people "ganged up" in an attack on a man, Shauntelle Hamrick, a Journeys shoe store manager told CNN. A gunman fired about seven shots during the fight, she said. It was not immediately clear if the victim of the attack was also the shooter.
Police identified the gunman as Daquan Antonio Westbrook, an 18-year-old rapper known as “Donkey Cartel” from North Charlotte.
The rapper had a mixtape titled “Convicted Felon With a Weapon” in April and is known for his trap song “Can’t Be Touched.”
gonna just file this under "nothing of value was lost"
Westbrook had a history of gun violence, after being charged in 2014 for shooting a 12-year-old boy in the leg in 2013, WSOC reported. He had been arrested at least 11 times since 2013, according to police records. He was most recently arrested on Oct. 18, for marijuana possession, speeding and resisting arrest.
he was a young man of impeccable reputation, and he committed no misdeed
Thomas Ferguson, an off-duty officer who was working at the mall arrived after hearing the blasts, and confronted the rapper. After Westbrook aimed his gun at the cop, the officer opened fire, killing him investigators said.
lol
it never ceases to amaze me how a few rounds costing less than five bucks can have such a dramatic...uh...impact...on future crime (note: arrested at least 11 times by age 18).
Officer Ferguson is hereby awarded the Totenkopf of Ordnung medal by yours truly.
