Is there away to connect to the internet in an area that has no/bad reception?
is there a way to connect the internet on your phone directly to a telecom satellite instead of the mobile phone tower? and can you do that with out having to spend money? (because illl only be in the area with no reception for 2 days)

Just saw this and i knew i just had to say something....

I am probably on the UK's worst network - or maybe the world's worst network.

At my house.. one bar
In town ... one bar
At my friend's house.. one bar
At my aunt's house.. no signal
At my grandad's house.. no signal.

I CANNOT GET A SIGNAL ANYWHERE!!!
Unfortunately my mother only took out the contract last month so I have two years of no signal to look forward to.

Joy.

cell phones communicate with land-based radio towers, not satellites

satellite phones do exist (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iridium_satellite_constellation) but they cost thousands of dollars up front and the per-minute charges are insane.

Just one company i saw you can 'rent' a satellite phone.
£5 per day + £1 per minute.

So if you rang home for 5 minutes on each of the two days the cost would be £20 (2 x £5 hire and 10 x £1 minutes)

What network is that? My money's on EE. When you switch, giffgaff is amazing. Really good signal and really cheap. Have had zero problems with them.

Vodafone actually. My sister is on giffgaff. She finds them alright but slow at times.
