My grandma's visiting for the holidays and we had a chance to talk yesterday with nobody else in the house. I told her I knew that dad wasn't my bio father and she said she knew that already and for me not to let it bother me cuz I'm not the only woods colt in the world and it was good of my dad to raise me. She said it must have been quite a surprise to find out, and I was like, yeah!
It was the first time I heard that expression. She said that young people often went "to the woods" to have sex and if a child resulted it was called a woods colt. She said in her day there wasn't all that much stigma attached to it and it was common for the man who married her to raise her child as his.
Like me.

sounds like a great grandma. your value as a human has nothing to do with who your parents were or not and clearly you were loved by people who loved you. Congrats and wear any titles with pride I think!

Thanks. It was a little hard to deal with for a while but she told me that some people adopt kids and some infertile couples use sperm or egg donors and they don't love their kids any less.

I know I'm whining about this a lot. It's just like one day out of the blue I was told I was somebody else. I've never been all that secure to begin with, now I have a chance to be dramatic.

I know there's no chance of this being true in my own case because I look too much like both my parents, but I've actually thought about this before and how I would react if it were true. honestly the idea doesn't bother me because it wouldn't change anything. just like if you married your long-lost sister without either of you realizing it (it's happened) and then found out years later at middle age.

Thanks for that. Gm is an amazing person. She's a Quaker and she has some definite opinions on things but she always respects the person. She calls it the light within.
I'm insecure, indecisive and lack direction. I'm finding out I prob inherited that from my bio father.
