Hey everyone, I just lost my job a couple of days ago and I have bills to pay and a car to pay off. Does anyone know of a way I can earn just enough money to pay for my car and stuff just until I find another job?
btw I lost my job because I hurt my shoulder (at work!) and they said I wasn't capable of doing the job any more because of it, Which sucks...

Well that sounds like a very unfair reason to be fired!
Unfortunately, the only way I can think of earning money without being employed for a company would to do the odd jobs for people - mow lawns, wash cars, do errands for the elderly or disabled like getting groceries, etc.
But yeah. Get busy finding a new job or the banks will start getting on your ass...

its so unfair, I really can't believe it. That's what I was thinking of doing I use to mow lawns before that job for money. I'm 20 so I'm not a teen but all I really know how to do is making windows, because that's what I did. I will admit I'm not the smartest or anything really... and now I can't lift anything heavy with my shoulder until I get it fixed which I can't pay for now! It's amazing how fast life can fuck you over

Are you unionised? Maybe they can help, especially if your injury was incurred at work.

The likelihood is that you've some legal protection if you want to take a case. It's deemed an unlawful termination to terminate someone as a result of "temporary absence from work because of illness or injury" (https://www.fairwork.gov.au/how-we-will-help/templates-and-guides/fact-sheets/minimum-workplace-entitlements/ending-employment#unlawful-termination) which is what it sounds like here. I'd look into it if you haven't already.
Otherwise small jobs are your best bet until you get back on your feet.

What do you mean by 'covered up'? The union can't help you?

I'm sure their not allowed to dismiss you because of that, you could take them to a tribunal to get some money out of them, but I'm sure that's alleged to dismiss someone due to disabilities, but in the mean time do you have a skill or hobby you particularly enjoy, you could turn that into a business

If you have a skill for something you could freelance. I used to do a lot of freelance video and development work until I created a business.
