My high school doesn't have a pool, but I'm wondering what it's like to have a swimming unit in gym.

How does the whole changing/showering situation work?

What kinds of things are done during swimming at school? Are any sports like water polo played, or just laps?

I don't go that school anymore and it was actually a combined middle school and junior high but in 8th grade we just had a short two week unit and on the last day we played a water basketball thing. It was not at our school but just a few blocks away. We just showered in our suit before and after some showered in suits while others showered naked. Only had a few minutes so showered fast.

at my school we change like we normally would for gym class before and after. When it was shower time some boys showered in their suits just to rinse them but would take them off, and most of us showered naked. No big deal.

Our swimming unit was about 2-3 weeks and we did swimming exercises and played some games, so it was a good mix.

well we shower naked after pe at our school, so it is really no different. at a lot of schools which don't, many will use their towel to cover themselves up and then shower with their suits on

For my swim class, we had 3 minutes to get everything including our shorts and shower stuff all the way to the PE wing within 5 minutes. (My school has a huge sports complex layout) But when showering everyone kept their shorts on, some pulled them out/down slightly to get the chlorine out. Then when we changed some people did under towels, some behind walls, some in stalls, but the sports complex was large enough that there was a enough bathrooms where groups of 3 would just go change together in also.

For mine it was school district required to learn strokes and be able to pass the state test. There was just a few days of water polo and water basketball, but for the most part it was timed laps.

In my school we all changed together and no one really made a big deal about being naked around each other, but we showered with our suits on

We all change and shower together in locker room and showers. Anyone who tries to change under towels gets called sisssy and really teased. At the end everbody gets naked.

We all boys same parts.

My secondary school has a 15m pool and we had a swimming unit every year. Honestly, I hated it. You had to swim widths because there were too many people to swim lengths at one time. So you got about 4 strokes in before you got to the other side. We mostly did technique and things and sometimes played water polo but usually the swimming units were just for fun and weren't very strict.

Everyone showered with costumes on and in the changing room you kept to yourself and got changed under a towel. I don't know if its just an American thing to let it all hang out because in the UK its all pretty conservative.

My 2nd high school had a pool. They have separate changing rooms for boys and girls, and you go into them based on your selective gender. We had 10 minutes to get from our previous class, to get changed, and meet on the deck, connecting to the pool. We would then have 10 minutes to get changed out of our swim suit, to our school clothes before the next class started. We had pool every other week, once a week. Usually Thursday's

In middle school we had required swimming. I went to a private school. There is obviously gender specific locker rooms. My locker room had two sets of poles with about 8 shower heads on each pole so 16 shower heads in all which sprayed lukewarm water. 30 guys would shower together so there was obviously sharing shower heads. Im surprised no one every popped a boner haha i definitely got close sometimes. When showering people laughed and talked and jokingly grabbed their junk. Nothing sexual ever happened lol. My school was k-8 so everybody knew each other and there was relaxed nudity, and no one really gave a fuck if anyone saw them nude. In high school it changed a bit, more prejudice and less laughs lol

I would say now most American high schools do not force the students to shower nude so many are uncomfortable being totally naked around others. for the schools who do or people who play sports or whatever, you just get used to being nude much more easily, but I do not think that is necessarily the majority here in America

I remember a class like that when I was 7... And I remember it was shit. Not too much more though.

We never really had a swim thing at school, but with years of swim team outside of school I'm used to changing and showering nude in front of other dudes

I think this is true. After gym class no one was forced to shower nude. But in sports things were different, maybe because the guys wanted to be there and nakedness was just a standard part.

Back to the OP's question you def want to shower after swimming, otherwise you'll smell of chlorine. And you need to get it out of your suit. Personally I tended to shower with the suit on, remove it and rinse it, then go dry off. It was maybe ten seconds of nudity walking to my towel.
