Why do Boys smell dirty and girls don't?

I noticed that boys have a different smell to them. Kind of a dirty boy smell. But girls smell nice and pretty. Why is this?

Maybe some boys don't shower everyday or we sweat more.

I don't think this is even true, boys and girls smell the same when clean, the smell changes if someone wears perfume or cologne or at the opposite end when someone sweats or has poor hygiene. Overall a clean boy and a clean girl have no difference in smell.

I haven't noticed that and I couldn't imagine. I cannot compare because I have never been in the girl's locker room after sports at school...

Idk both the girls and boys locker rooms have always smelled bad to me just as I walk past both during passing period, not even going into them I can smell foulness.


I think it's bacteria, perfumes that aren't my style, people who don't shower, and hormones and pheromones.

I don't mean after exercise, I just mean in general, they have a funny smell.

It's the pheromones that the male always emits in order to attract the female. Without these pheromones, the female would move on and there would be no reproduction with that particular male!

Subjectively, I think that girls have the same thing. Once you get in tune with a girl, you can usually pick up different smells that mean different things pretty easily.
And then there's the athletic girls, and even guys for that matter. Sweat doesn't smell any worse on either body

I might suggest that perhaps the OP is biased due to the fact that maybe the guys she's encountering aren't practicing cleanliness as much as the girls encountered? (regularly washing of face, body, body-regions close to glands, use of deodorant/cologne/perfume)

In fact thinking back on it, I don't think guys use scent based products as much as girls do. Some do for sure, but I have a hunch of lot of them just shower and then that's it.

Maybe the girl's smell nice part, of the OP is due to the fact that fancy perfumes are being used.

Well I don't know how much the boys shower, but your prolly right, they are just dirty. I think girls do wear perfumes and yummy creams that smell like candy etc. O' well.

When we start puberty some of us r actually

Of course many of us use deodorant and many
dont. Its hormones that we cant help.

i think overall boys do more sports and they sweat more. sometimes they could be smelly. it might be a part of puberty like some of you said above. still, personal hygein is important. as long as you take showers everyday, it wont be too bad.
