I think I heard that if you show over half your hard size when you are soft; that means you are a shower. Like, if you are 4 inches soft and 6 inches hard. My friend is a shower. He is 4 1/2 soft and 5 1/2 hard. I am an obvious grower at 1 1/2 soft and 5 7/8 hard.

I'm like this (except I'm not really into giving free shows at the urinal lol) .But I 100% agree that flaccid size changes a lot! It's kinda a pet peeve of mine when I see a post asking for flaccid length. How does anybody know what to say? My flacid length varies from 1-6 inches. I'm sure when it's between 5-6 inches it's considered half chub or something but it can be 6 inches and still hang perfectly soft pointing at the ground. So that's why I consider myself a shower since usually I am well over 4 and probably 5 and could be 6 soft while taking a shower after practice one day but the next day if practice was cold I could be 1 inch. It's weird lol.

I'd say you're a shower. Good rule of thumb is if your erection is twice the size of your flaccid length than you're a grower.

That's to say, two guys who go from 3 to 4 and 7 to 8 would probably be considered showers while someone who goes from 4 to 9 is a grower. Even though 4 to 9 has a bigger flaccid size than 3 to 4, 4 to 9 more than doubles in size, so he's a grower.

I think this is at the core of it - the names are attempting to make two distinct categories out of what is actually spectrum. It's a bit like say which wavelength does light change from red to violet (opposite ends of the visible spectrum).

What is actually going on is that for each penis the erect size is essentially fixed - that is the size when the erectile tissue is completely full with blood and under pressure. With a little less blood the penis would be mostly the same size but no longer erect. As the amount of blood is reduced still further the penis will shrink and the more the amount of blood is reduced the more it shrinks. Usually the smallest possible size only seen, for example, after being immersed in cold water for quite some time, is quite a lot smaller than the erect size.

The extent to which the body diverts blood away from the penis when an erection is no longer required varies both from one person to another and on temperature - the body generally diverts blood from the extremities to the core when it is is cold. The only thing that is certain regarding flaccid and erect size is that one is not an accurate predictor of the other.
