View Full Version : Am I bothering her or does she want to talk to me?

So I was messaging with this girl on facebook yesterday, and it was pretty late. I messaged her around 10:50 PM and it didn't deliver until around 11:30 and she responded shortly after. I asked her how her thanksgiving was and she said it was good and asked how mine was but then she started giving really short answers and I felt like she wasn't really into the conversation and/or didn't want to talk to me.
Some examples of what she was saying:
"No i just stayed home"
"Oh cool some of my family came this year"
"Oh haha that's nice"
"haha yeah"
"yeah"
"oh okay"
"oh haha cool"
"hahaha"
"I'm really tired so I'm going to go to bed now" @12:30 AM
So what is the deal here? Should I have another conversation with her or is she completely uninterested? Or could the time of day have been a factor bc it was so late?

You could try to lead her into a longer response question by saying "oh yeah? Tell me about it!" or something if you find a good spot to do that.

Communications online are really hard to judge, I would suggest talking to her in person if possible, that would be much easier to read!

I want to but I have really bad anxiety and I get way too nervous. I tried to build up the courage to talk to her in person for weeks but I was never able to and I really wanted to talk to her.

I see that, what year are you (if you feel comfortable answering). Sounds like facebook is a good step then. If you are anxious but want to talk to her, try planning a conversation, think about what you would say and then judge her possible responses and see what you would say in response to that. Go over it in the shower, with a pet, with a friend, or even with a parent. It will help.

I'm a sophomore in high school. If I were to try and have another convo with her, what do you think I should say? last night we just talked about our thanksgivings (she didn't go into detail at all :/). Would today be too soon to message her again?

Do you have any classes with her? What have you talked to her before? Do you know any of her favorite bands, subjects, etc? If you have classes with her you could talk about school to start off, or try listening to some of her music and tell her you like it (if that's not too weird).
Honestly you could start off a conversation with "Hey :)" and then see how she responds.

That's cool, you could talk to her about English class or you could ask her about her dancing. Those would be my two suggestions for striking up a conversation.
