View Full Version : What about the size...

Hey everyone! This question isn't to satisfy my curiosity; rather, it's to stimulate a conversation about something I feel that quite a few teenagers, guys and girls alike, are unnecessarily concerning themselves with. Of course, I'm talking about the dreaded penis size issue! I've seen quite a few threads on here talking about having a "small" penis or seeing someone with a "large" penis. On this thread, it's not about comparing or whatever else is put down normally; it's about your feelings on the subject. And just to say, I'm going to concentrate on teenagers. That's because their mindset is more of a wild card than that of young adults, and they are still trying to come to terms with their identity and confidence.
With that said, here are the questions. Why do you feel your penis size or another guy's penis size is important? If you don't believe in that, then why do you think teens find it important to either be considered big or, in terms of a girl or gay guy, find a guy with a big dick to be partnered with?
Apart from the obvious fascination that comes with seeing another guy's penis regardless of size and the over-glorification from the porn industry; what is the reason you think you or other teens believe in what I call "the big dick hype"?
What do you believe is "shameful" about having a small penis? If you don't believe that, then why do you think teens don't like having a small penis or being partnered with someone with a small penis?
What do you consider to be a "large" penis, both in size and thickness? What do you consider to be a "small" penis, both in size and thickness?
Finally, what do you feel are the pros and cons about having a "large" penis? This question is for both those who have a "large" penis or those who participated in some kind of sexual acts with a guy who had one.
Thanks for taking the time to read this thread. I really do hope it does stimulate a conversation about this issue that teens commonly have and help those with those concerns see that it's not important and see what is normal and the non-sexual opinions of others regarding "the big dick hype".

I seem to feel that each question is related to the original question about why teens, well all of us guys, feel that big is better.
I am gay and to be honest, size is irrelevant. I’m not sure what girls will say, but I tend to believe that anything that is “average” will satisfy a female. I think that teens (and all men to be honest) have been indoctrinated to think that a big penis is important because anything big is supposed to be better, right? This is drummed into the male’s psyche so much that they believe it. I’m a bit above average, but it is the person that should be important, not an irrelevant idea about size.
As I said above, it is a common belief that size is important. When a 13-17 year old boy is maturing, I think they hope to be “big” because they are told that this is better. The porn industry obviously promotes this idea, but when guys are fooling around, calling guys little dick or something derogatory about penis size, they believe in this “hype” as you say.
I don’t believe there is anything shameful with a smaller than average penis. After all we all have the same working parts and same “results” no matter what the size.
As far as what I consider a “large” penis, I guess I’d have to say anything an inch or more from the reported average which I believe last time I looks in the US was about 5.6” (or to round off 6”) I think that the girth is more important than the length when intercourse is discussed. Both vaginal and anal intercourse will be much more intense if the girth is greater. I have NO idea what is ideal girth because it depends on the recipient.
Too large a penis can be painful to the partner. I know guys with large (8+”) penis that have said girls find them painful. I have been with guys with large penis’s and find it intriguing and sexually exhilarating, but that is me.
I hope that this has answered all your questions.

as all the Q you put pertains to guys..we girls have no say..
why couldn't you put up in " puberty for boys " section itself?

Actually, all my questions do pertain to both sexes. The first question does mention about boys and their penis, but it also asks about if you don't believe in it. While I didn't mention it there, it does assume that that part of the question can be answered by a girl.
The second question can also be answered by both sexes. After all, guys can have their own fascination with big penises, and girls are also on that same boat. It was never mentioned specifically that only guys are eligible to answer that question. In fact, a girl could have a completely different reason for liking big penises than that of guys.
The third question can also be for girls. While they themselves don't have a penis, they can still have an opinion as to what is small and big. That and they are going to be most likely the one on the receiving end during sex, role reversal fetishes notwithstanding. In that case, girls can also have an opinion as to what they think is big or small.
The final question is also directed at both sexes. While the first part of the question says about guys who have a large penis; the second part mentions an "or" where someone had participated in sex with someone with a large penis.
With that said, all of the questions are directed at both sexes. While the main topic of penises is mainly on the side of guys, the questions were phrased with both sexes in mind. True, the first and last question started off being centered towards guys, but I added in the second portion where the girls could feel free answering. So while I never specifically said the questions were directed at both sexes, my choice of forum to post in notwithstanding, the questions were written so that it can be easily inferred that both sexes can answer. Girls can have an opinion on big dicks and hop onto "the big dick hype" just like guys can; girls just won't have the ego associated with them having a big penis because that'd be impossible. I hope that clears up any confusion.
And sorry for my long explanation there. I'm an English Major in college, so I feel the need to explain through words whenever someone asks me a question in detail. As such, I also know how to avoid "putting a specific gender" to my questions. If you read my intro before the questions. you'll notice I never once specifically mentioned I was only talking about guys. I kept it ambiguous with the mention of only teenagers; after all, girls can be teenagers just as much as guys. It's just that the main topic, penis size, had you assuming there was a "specific gender" in my questions where there wasn't.

Personally, I don't give much importance to my penis size compared to other guys, but I think the big reason so much guys care is because it comes down to our primitive instinct. Naturally, we want to be superior to other guys, thinking it will give us better chances in getting a partner. One way to distinguish the strong from the weak is the (classic) issue of who has the bigger genitals. So as a consequence, many teenage guys see themselves as smaller compared to other guys because it makes their virility go down and think they will be less appreciated by their partner.
I don't think that there is anything shameful in having a small penis, but as I already explained having a small penis can make guys feel less manly and less likely to sexually please a partner. The reason I don't believe in any of this is because relationships should mainly be based on the emotional side of things rather than the sexual aspect of it.
Ideologically, I do not consider a penis big or small, but referring to scientific data the average in length for an erect penis is 5.5" and the average girth is 3.5". Therefore, anything below is technically considered small and anything over is technically considered big.
If a guy were to consider themselves to have a large penis, I would think the aspect of self confidence is present and that there should be no worrying about size. I do not think there would be any disadvantages to considering yourself to have a large penis.
