Howdy guys and gals -
In reading some of the posts, I can't help but wonder what life is like for a guy in school with girls or a girl with guys. I'm in my third year at an all-male high school, and I almost forget what it's like to see girls my age every day. Sure, we get to see girls from the all-girls schools on weekends, but rarely more. It almost makes it more fun when we do, because it's not the same anatomy. The last time I was in class with a girl was before I really hit puberty, and almost before they had too. We were all little kids and to be totally honest at that age there's not a whole lot different anyway.
So, all of you who have ever been to a same-sex school, or who have experienced both, what's it like growing up with the other sex every day? What do you like/dislike?

They are just other people to talk to, mixed schools get rid of this whole 'omg it's the opposite gender' the same way growing up with a brother/sister does. It just is normal, they're people like you.

I'm in a mixed school ( I think most are nowadays? ) I don't think it causes any trouble, sure there's distraction and the occasional relationship/break-up but it's not a big deal.
I enjoy being able to meet both my female and male friends at school.
I think it leaves a more comfortable atmosphere than complete seperation.

because I have only known mixed schools, it feels normal to me and like having brothers in the house you know. Maybe if I only had sisters, I would think differently.

I am glad I go to a mixed school. even though I am bi, I would not want to go to an all guys school

I'm going to a mixed school but there are way, WAY more guys than girls there because my school's focus lies on IT, which for some reason is something not many girls are interested in. In my whole year (~150 people) there are 12 girls, including me. And to be honest, I like it way better this way. There's just so much less bitch fighting!

I've always thought developing best-friend relationships with the opposite sex is important and enjoyable. I'm a guy and my best friend happens to have been a girl sine kindergarten up til now, sophomore year. It just opens you up and lets you know both sexes. As for being attracted to them, yeah I like seeing hot girls at my school or dating them but seeing them doesn't make me go insane. They're just people.

I don't know, girls are just fun to talk to. Also, I wouldn't go to a all male school because I have specific fears...

I go to a all girls school, and like it very much, but it would not bother me going to a mixed school.

I think it is a different learning experience with a public school for both boys and girls. Only if your social skills were good could you ever speak to someone. During puberty guys and girls would stay away from each other in my experience. Once we each adapted to changes could we mingle and socialize with one another without having to worry that our bodies were changing. Sometimes it was awkward.

Don't think I'd like going to an all-girls school.
