Is there any mixed race kids here? If you are one:
How old are you?
What race do you consider yourself as?
What was it like growing up?
Have you ever been teased or bullied because of it?
Thanks for sharing your stories!

I'm part Danish, part German. Consider myself an American. My skin color s white. Never been an issue. No, I do not get picked on. As Americans, we are all descendants from a variety of races that's why I say I am part of the Human race. My mother's grandparents are from Johannesburg, South Africa so I guess I could also claim to be part African American but that term has been deemed to mean black which is weird for two reasons: (1) There are white people who live in Africa (like my great-grandparents) and (2) not all black people are descendants of Africa. One of my best friends is from Jamaica and she has never been to Africa nor does she have any family who have been to Africa yet she is called African-American. Hmm, why don't we just say we are Americans if we live in the USA? So many labels only serve to be a divisive element and prevent us from all getting along.

How old are you? Old as the hills :}
At least on this website lmao
What race do you consider yourself as? Mixed? Idk. I usually mark Mixed, or other.
What was it like growing up? Exclusion. Exclusion everywhere. Not brown enough for the brown kids, not white enough for the white kids (culturally- I'm pretty light.)
Have you ever been teased or bullied because of it? Oh yeah. No one really liked me because I was too much of an outsider no matter what group I was in
I don't speak Spanish fluently enough to hang out with the Latino kids (although that tends to be more my group now, oddly), I'm too "weird" for the white kids, I'm not navajo so hanging out with native kids was pretty hit or miss bc they didn't want to accept me mostly

I'm as mixed as a brazilian can be :P
I'm 19, and can only consider myself Brazilian, really. Sure, I'm a mixture of Italian, Native Brazilian, Spanish, Portuguese, fuck knows what else.
People in Brazil are pretty mixed too, so for the most part of my life I had no problems with that. BUT, my two years in Germany were shit. People look at you the wrong way there. I was constantly bullied by the kids at school, so much that I had to be taken out of school because every day I'd fight not to go to school. And I was whiter (less sunburnt) back then, too. I'd never go back to Germany again because of the people...

15
What race do you consider yourself as?
Mixed between white and Indian
What was it like growing up?
Desis called me white and whites called me desi, but once they knew me they got to know I am a little of both.
Have you ever been teased or bullied because of it?
No... people used to make fun of me for being Hindu, but they have more or less gotten over that. But that isn't really racially an issue to me. Maybe the only time I feel like being mixed is a liability is in India, don't get me wrong, the country is awesome, but the people are more racist than kkk

How old are you? 20
What race do you consider yourself as? I'm just really fucking white.
What was it like growing up? Okay, so let me explain here: I am white but my step-family is native and Jamaican-Chinese. Basically, I was the whitest kid of the bunch. My step-mother is native, my step-siblings are black. And my dad is very tan compared to me. Oh, and they had a Chinese last name. So let's just say, it was very confusing when people got introduced to us as a family. It was weird to be in such a blended family but not horrible. I know this isn't really mixed-race personally but it's still an interesting experience.
Have you ever been teased or bullied because of it? There were a number of jokes about it but no actual teasing. But it could feel kind of uncomfortable at times because my step-mother would make "which one is adopted?" jokes and she always fucking meant me.

You said well. Among my friends, I'm too light, and not light enough to be called 'white'. Lol mum always told me that I'm special because I'm in between.
Cheers to the others. Glad to know that I'm not alone, and thanks for the replies!

I'm a Creole...that's what mixed race is called here
What was it like growing up?
I never really had problems. Of course it was kinda weird cuz the real black kids where all "blacker" than me and I never felt like I belong when I was among white kids. There where also kinda awkward situations with relatives that don't looked like me at all...but as a whole everyone was okay with me and vice versa, lol.
And now most girls and guys appreciate my "exotic" looks;)
Have you ever been teased or bullied because of it?
Teased maybe but not really bullied.
