I'm 16 and I have started training in mixed martial arts and I need to buy a jockstrap and a cup. I am super nervous about buying one and I just need advice. Plus I'm not familiar with the sizeing of jockstraps does it go by waist size or size of the penis. Because I want it to fit good so of it goes by penis should I buy a small? I'm only 5 inches or does it go by waist size?

You are awfully funny. I started wearing cups when I played baseball at age 6 and I played for six years. I have a lot of experiences with cups. Just buy one there is nothing to fear. It is not like you are buying condoms or cigars. It is just another piece of equipment at a sports store.

same waist size as your underwear. make sure you get one that accepts the cup into like a pouch. don't try and wear it inside a regular jock. your penis will fit inside fine, no worries.

Yeah..Its the waist size...I had one bought at 14y...I had a tiny waist of 26'' then and the cup felt a bit snug down there....
Now I've put on and waist is 36'' ...I got one to play football with neighours last month and now its pretty roomy...

Here is a link to tell you how to fit for and buy a jockstrap. It even has illustrations to show for you. Good luck.

Talk to a close male friend about this who is also into sports and wears a cup and strap. Be careful wearing them. My oldest brother plays football and got seriously hurt by his cup last football season because it shifted during a play. On the next down he got hit in the groin and his testicle got caught by the hard plastic cup. He got bruised VERY badly and said he thought his right ball was going to burst due to the crushing. For that reason it is so important to make sure everything fits securely and correctly.

Yeah this is pretty important. They are supposed to fit pretty tight so nothing moves around. Even without a cup, you don't want your parts to be bouncing around. It can be a little uncomfortable at first, but it beats getting hurt!

ya just a regular one w/o the cup and is really very comfortable. Bikes are the best ones. if you need the cup shock doctor or the nutty buddy is also good. Really no big deal buying .
there a lot better than compression shorts for sure! Cheaper too.
just got some bike jocks on sale.. there like $5 vs. the $35 for UA compression shorts. they actually are more comfortable too.
just get something comfortable.. that's the goal. Best for keeping focused on sports.

I'd imagine it goes by waist size just like all other underwear.

It's even less embarrassing than buying condoms...especially if you get it from a sports store. Just get the same size as the underwear you wear. Also....I wear a small but have a pretty big dick and I haven't had any problems with containment lmao

This is the horror story every guy that wears a cup is afraid of. It actually happened to a friend of mine and his balls got so swollen they had to take him to the ER. The closest I got to anything like that was when the tip of my dick got crushed in like my inguinal

ya.. there's more selection and easier to get if you order online. That's how I get most of my sports stuff anyway and sometimes hard to find the regular jocks without the cups locally. Bikes are my favorite most comfortable for soccer and running.
