Yesterday night my friend and I were in our hotel, we were there for a school club event, and i'm texting this girl I've known for about a year. I'll call her "Jane." Now Jane is about 2 years older than me, and she's always been really nice to me but i just assumed it was her yreating me like a younger brother or something. My friend thinks otherwise, he says that she is trying to be in a relationship with me but I don't believe him. Jane is currently in college and comes home every weekend and for the most part we try to hang out. We also text often. My main question would be how do I find out of she actually likes me? But I also worry that if I try to start a romantic relationship with her our friendship could be ruined. Am I over thinking this part or is that something I should consider?

It doesn't seem like your romantically interested in her by your account, so why might you want to start something with her? Also, are there any other signs apart from her being 'nice' that she might like you, such as obvious flirting or conversation starting, as right now it sounds like she's just a friend, and that your other friend is just exaggerating. And yes, I wouldn't jump into trying to form a relationship at this stage, as it would almost certainly harm your friendship.

Well there are obvious signs to look for when you are hanging out with her in person since it is not easy to determine over text. If she hugs you often, puts her head on your shoulder, or holds your hand then she might like you. Age should not matter, my first love was two years older than I. If you want to know if she likes you, you need to be ready to risk the friendship. It is better to risk the friendship than wonder for the rest of your life if she liked you or not
