Marijuana legalization is a hot debate going on, so how do you all feel regarding marijuana legalization? Canada as you may or may not know, has elected a new federal government that plans on legalizing it nationally, and Bernie Sanders also is taking a "socialistic" approach to it

all for it. people will be less inclined to try and overthrow my regime if they're all chilled out (duuuuuuude).

Fer it. There's no reason for people to be in prison for sometimes upwards of a year for toking. Waste of taxpayer money.

For it too. I don't see any valid reason to prohibit it.

Definitely for it, whether it's for recreational or medical use.

Please, enlighten me, what is a ''socialistic'' approach to marijuana and/or it's legalisation?

I think most drugs should be legal, so marijuana obviously so.

Same, I'm for it. Not saying I would or wouldn't do it if It was, but it should have the same rules as alcohol for safety. Besides, who cares if someone's high? Really it's not that bad.

I personally wouldn't smoke it myself, but I feel there's really no purpose for it to be illegal. It actually has more benefits than tobacco/alcohol and they are both legal.

I think he means "liberalized."

Well I used a cautionary ''most'' since I'm not very well informed on the vast majority of drugs and so on, but basically unless it was something like ''krokodil'' I think it should be legal - this is just hypothetical but maybe for the case of hallucinogenics, it would be only legal in the privacy of your own residence.

hallucinogens have a low organ toxicity but their risk of unwanted mental side effects probably would suggest caution. I was all for legalizing LSD and what have you but recently I've changed my mind on it - as far as legalization goes I think marijuana is the only workable drug. while it's true that marijuana has been known to trigger psychosis it seems to be a minimal risk compared to hallucinogens.

meth, heroin and krokhodil are best dealt with using the rope. peddling hallucinogens lands you in prison, opiates and meth = you hang. no exceptions.

As far as I've read, but nowhere near extensively, the only proven thing is that marijuana increases your chances of having a psychotic episode based on already existing genetic factors.

Punishment doesn't work as well as legalisation and regulisation. So unless it rots your limbs, gives you batshit crazy hallucinations etc... It should all be legal. I'm sure there are some in this forum who know way more about drugs and their associated risks based on actual research.

I along with the legalization of marijuana I believe We must decriminalize drugs in general. Making things illegal honestly makes people want to do them more and with legalization there can be stricter control on trade distribution farming and of course economic benefits.

You're actually spot on. Any kind of mind altering substance (alcohol, marijuana, LSD, psilocybin mushrooms) can trigger severe psychosis or exacerbate symptoms of mental illnesses like schizophrenia in patients who have been diagnosed or have a history of mental illness.

Interestingly enough though, LSD has been shown to help patients with anxiety and depression. Of course, proper research is difficult to conduct given the governments restriction on hallucinogens. Still, micro dosing on LSD and psilocybin mushrooms seems to be a promising new way to utilize hallucinogens to treat mental disorders.

I feel like if it were legal it could possibly make kids less likely to try worse drugs like cocaine, acid, whatever the hell else there is out there...
Or I could be wrong and it would make things worse
Either way tho I'm all for it...at the end of the day it's just weed

As with all drugs, it should be used with caution, but I am for it being legalised in general.

not really any good reason not to do it, proven to be harmless (only harmful thing is smoking but tobacco is legal and tobacco is addictive), government can make money of it, and no it's not a gateway drug...
Safer than tobacco and alchohol, can be used medicaly.. The list goes on and on.

While I think you're a degenerate for using them, I don't see any reason that soft drugs should be any more illegal than alcohol and tobacco. So many people cry out against all the negative consequences of using soft drugs (which there certainly are, don't be fooled), yet will go back home and will sip on a glass of whiskey while smoking a big fat cigar. If you're not negatively effecting anyone outside yourself and not becoming a burden to society, I say go fucking crazy.

Also, as a side note, putting further research into things such as medicinal cannabis would be something I also advocate for.
