Shower is perfect for privacy, but when everyones gone to bed as long as you can grab the covers over you if you hear anyone coming you should be ok.

I think you're right that whether bedroom doors have locks is a mater of cultural convention and here in the UK locks on bedroom doors are not common. There are usual on bathroom doors, though I did know some friends who also had no lock on their bathroom door either.

On the other hand a door does not necessarily need a lock for people to stay out. It is quite possible to adopt the convention that a bedroom is a private space and when the occupier has gone in and closed the door this is a cue that they wish to be given some privacy. It is also important to note that this privacy is not just for masturbating (or later, having sex) but for any time someone needs time to themselves away from the need to interact with others.

If this approach is one that would work for you the next step is to convince parents you are old enough to have a right to some privacy and, as I said above, this doesn't have to have anything to do with anything sexual.

Back to the original question I think it is hard to beat ones bed as the best place due to how comfortable it is. If, despite the above, people are still apt to walk in you can obviously minimise this by picking a time when they are asleep or out of the house and also position the covers. There are two approaches to the covers, both of which I have used:

1. have the covers only over your legs and folded in such a way there is corner within easy reach of your hand that, if pulled, would bring the covers over the rest of you.

2. Masturbate under the cover but be prepared to throw them off at the last minute so you don't get cum on them.
