I'm 15 and I have anxiety, usually about social situations and school. My psychologist thinks I have Social Anxiety Disorder. I feel nervous/unsafe due to irrational fears a lot and I had to go to the nurse's office because of a panic attack recently. I want to go into special education/class because I think I'd get better support there. My mom said you don't have to have an intellectual impairment but if you can't handle the school environment you can be put in a special needs class. Is this true? I don't know what requirements you need at my school to get extra support. What should I do, could I 'qualify' for extra support?

Depends - is your anxiety regularly impending your learning? Is your anxiety causing you to under-perform in class? Do you think the anxiety is only temporary and can be 'cured' with some extensive therapeutic and psychological assistance? These are just some questions you should think about before making, frankly, quite a bold change in life style.
Your question about whether it's true if you can be put into a special needs class depends on the severity of the answers to the questions aforementioned. If your anxiety is causing truly terrible consequences in terms of your class performance and social aspects, then yes, I do believe you'd be eligible for placement in the class.
Hope this helps. :)
