View Full Version : Holding Hands

Do you think that holding hands is something that a boy should initiate or that a girl should initiate? In my experience, girls have always been the one to reach out and grab my hand. At school or work girls I think like me would deliberately press their arm against mine. I would try to scoot aside and yet they continue to press against me. Am I not reading the signs correctly? Should I grab their hand when they press on me? Should I be the one to touch her hand and make my fingers grab hers?

To me, it really doesn't matter who initiates it. I think it's just whatever feels right at that moment. It's one of those things that you really shouldn't over think and instead just go with your gut. If you feel that the signs are there, go for it! There isn't much to lose. It's all a learning experience!

I usually lend my hand out. Then they take it. Even the case with my bf, but not before he steals a kiss first hehe

Does it really matter? Initiate it if you feel like, that's all.
I held my girlfriend's hand first

I think its a multi gender thing. its up to the girl or the boy. Either way you get to touch each other's hand's so it shouldn't matter who initiates it

This is the only advice you'll need. Great response.

i think is someone wants to hold someone else's hand, they should reach out and do so. male, female, whatever.

I don't think it matters whatsoever who initiates it. If I wanna hold someone's hand, I'm not gonna wait around all day because "the boy's supposed to do that" or whatever, and neither should anyone else. If you think someone is hinting at that, go for it if you feel comfortable.

Sometimes people want to hold hands for reasurrance if they are nervous or scared. So like if you notice that she's maybe feeling vulnerable or whatever, go for it and give her that contact so she knows you are there kind of thing.
Equally you might not want to hold hands right then but she's seeking comfort or whatever so just accept it.
But as everyone else said, otherwise it dosn't matter if you just feel like it, do it.

I've held a guys hand before. A guy has held my hand before. Even if it wasn't a thing for a girl to initiate hand holding, I'd still try to hold his hand first.

Doesn't really matter who starts it. In my experience most of the girls have started it but after y'all date for a bit sometimes you don't even know who started it lol it's like the default walking position.
