View Full Version : How long should a crush last?

I am wondering how long crushes should last because sometimes I have a crush for a long time and sometimes it is not that long. For example in high school I had a crush on a girl I never met before and I would think about her every day. Then after a few months I did not feel the same and I got over it. Other times I have crushes on girls for more than a few months. I even had long lasting crushes on my lady friends from time to time.

How long should a crush last? Is it normal if it lasts for a long time? Why do some last longer than others? Should I worry about having multiple crushes on different girls?

There really is no "should" here. Sometimes they last a day, sometimes a year. They're there until they're not. But there's no ideal duration for such a thing.

It's completely up to you how long you feel infatuated (or have feelings) for another person. There's really no wrong answer or time limit. Crushes can last a very short time, or it's possible to yearn over the same person for years.

A crush has the potential to last forever until said "crush" says or does something that shatters your idealized version of them in your head.

Unless your crush on them is purely you idealizing their body, then that only ends once they lose their looks.

Sometimes it ends or is reduced when you find a real meaningful partner and your energy and focus is drawn to a real relationship your in and you begin living in "the now", versus "the maybe future, which has a high probability of never happening".

For instance during standardized testing a few years back, I was sat next to my crush, and perhaps it was shallow of me, but at no fault of their own they let one rip, and it destroyed my crush on them. Idk maybe they had a hurried breakfast that morning but whatever caused their gas, my crush on them was dispelled.

yeah there's really no limit to how long a crush should be, I mean I've had one for at least a year, and at least one that lasted like 2 days lmao

like you can't really control it that much so idk

Crushes don't have time limits, and not really a set amount of crushes possible at one time either, so nothing to worry about, I have a few crushes, 1 I've liked for almost 4 years, 1 I've liked for about a year now, and a couple I've liked for only a few weeks/a couple months

No time limits I guess :) I have had many different "durational" crushes. One for 4 months, another for 3-4 hours(really!!!) and one for 2-3 days. Still going strong though! And yes, it's quite okay to have multiple crushes(according to me).
Enjoy!!

There really is no 'correct' duration for a crush to last; it really depends on the person and the circumstances surrounding them. Whatever you feel, is whatever you feel. As long as you are not spending too much time worrying about, and obsessing over the crush, then what you are feeling is healthy, and normal.
