A Russian air force jet has been shot down by Turkish forces after it strayed into the country's airspace, according to unconfirmed reports. Eyewitnesses reported a large explosion in Huraytan, northern Syria, as three fighter jets were sighted flying overhead, the Express said.

A Turkish-based journalist tweeted that three Turkish planes were responding after radar locked on to some "mysterious" MiG-29 jets, which are a similiar model to those used by Russian forces.

Crikey. It's unconfirmed but stilll.

False, the Russians use Su-30SMs in Syria. It doesn't benefit either of the countries to do that.

Russia hasn't deployed any Mig-29s to Syria as far as I'm aware. They aren't a bomber either which would mean Russia is supposedly deploying useless jets into Turkish airspace. The Syrian Air Force however does contain Mig-29s and Su-24s so most likely if this was an Mig it would probably be something to do with that. It feels like people are just trying to start a story or conflict from anything possible now.

^ Sounds about right from some other places I've seen this story posted.

Gotta love the media these days.

Still is pretty interesting to read up on.

Well shit. I'm assuming (and hoping) that this is nothing more than the media trying to fabricate a story to try and entice readers. If not...well...
