View Full Version : Just had circumcision - Best way to deal with stinging?

So I just had a circumcision. I'm so glad I had it.
The one problem is the tip of the penis (the glans meatus) stings whenever something touches it. This is because it has been covered up by the foreskin for so long that it's not used to contact with anything other than the foreskin. Anyone know the best way to deal with this? I'm already taking Ibuprofen and Tylenol (and occasionally an opioid but these pills will run out in a few days).

Even though I'm not circumcised, in my culture people usually don't get their dick contacted to any kind of fabrics. They usually let it hanging and to cover it up they use sarong. It's a thin cloth and usually used after circumcision. And they wait for several days until the glans becomes dry

Hmmm maybe silk will be better. The nurse at the hospital gave me some mesh panties to wear. They look hilarious.

In my experience, I did what ever possible to hold my penis in one position so it wouldn't move around, which meant going back to briefs for a time. I also wrapped my glans in cotton. It does take awhile to get used to the exposure, regardless.

It stings when I take the gauze off though.

I assume the gauze is protecting the incision and yup that is going to be uncomfortable for a spell (give it a week). I tried gauze on my glans but it was too rough, so I went to cotton, which I arranged in such a way that the gauze over the scar was holding the cotton in place.

When I'm home alone I just wear nothing. Haha.
Even though it stings I'm so glad I had the operation.

Well home alone and wearing nothing really rocks!
You will get used to the 'exposure' over time. Overall I am pleased with the outcome (>1 year since the operation).

I know one guy who said he kept it wrapped in tissue, and always tried to keep it
pointing up, and wearing briefs or a jock strap to keep things from moving around
as much as possible. Pointing up is to reduce swelling by helping the fluid drain
into the body.

When I had my circumcision, they had me put a little Vasoline on my exposed head and then wrap it in some soft gauze. To hold the gauze in place I wore briefs which worked well holding my penis from moving around. Being naked as much as you can is the best answer. In a few days you will get used to your new uncovered state. Congratulations on getting your circumcision. You will like it more all the time.
