So when I was five I had a stammer. It was bad but not horrific and was put under control with speech therapy. On Friday, last lesson, it started again. I didn't think much of it because every so often it happens but it got extremely bad to the point where I physically couldn't do anything but make weird noises with the starting letter of my sentence. My mother took me to the hospital about it, thinking it might be a bleed in the brain and all the tests they done came back clear. They don't know what's caused it especially since it comes and goes as it pleases with no indication of when it will happen again. I've been told to just go to my doctor to be put on speech therapy but I can't remember what it's like. I feel so silly not being able to talk. I get so frustrated and the only person who can understand what I'm trying to say is my boyfriend and even he is starting to struggle now. Does anyone know anything that can help me/tell me what this therapy stuff is like? :help:

It really depends on what is causing it I think as far as what form the therapy takes.
But its training on word and sentence structures and different kinds of mouth exercises and stuff like that. Its not hard to do, but it can get very frustrating at times. I mean its you know how to talk, but you can't. There are a lot of YouTube videos about speech therapy that will give you an idea of what is involved. I have apraxia of speech and heres a vid I found on that http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmKzEuaz5Ag

I had a stutter for 2 years and when I learned to become more self confident and to ignore it, I recovered. I'm now 99% better, I still stammer a bit which people put down to my fast talking, the only problem I get is trying to start a sentence with 'm' sometimes and it just doesnt come out.

I cannot really answer - but I hope you get better or find ways to cope - I do sometimes stammer a bit but more when I am tired or there are others talking over me.

I stammer a lot it's so annoying. people always make fun of me for it. I can't ever spit out my words. it's irritating. I just deal with it.

this may sound crazy but it's worked for others with surprising results.
this probably works best in conjunction with speech therapy, but theatre
is supposed to help immensely with speech impediments and the like. i think
it's an option worth exploring in more depth.
