Yesterday I was ripping around in the snow on my farm on a 2007 Polaris Hawkeye atv. I got sliding sideways and hit a ditch at about 50 mph. The ditch was deep enough that it didn't roll the four wheeler, but after 20 Min more of riding around, I rode up to the house to put it away and it wouldn't make it up the hill. It really stunned me, because it was made for power and has pulled 1500 pounds of corn up that same hill last fall. I got another atv out and pulled it up the hill, and when I got to the garage, I realized the whole rear axle assembly was bent in very bad ways. By that time I was hoping it was just a busted wheel, but when I took a closer look, the rim was completely shattered. I'm amazed it made as far as it did without falling off. Anyway, if you've ever dealt with atv's, you know the rim is attached to the axle and if its broken, the axle will need replaced. I got lucky because mine has a split rear end (meaning it has an independent axle for each wheel) and I don't have to do a complete rebuild of the rear. Anyway, that four wheeler pulls the firewood cart, so it needs fixed pronto. Anybody know of a good online dealer that sells that kind of parts)

It's modern, you shouldn't have any issues, (I would think.) I hear Polaris is good about that type of stuff. I only have one Polaris... a 1958-9 snowmobile. Your lucky you didn't get hurt, or cause any worse damage! Perhaps you could straighten the axle, and change the hub? I never worked on such a modern one, so I really don't know. We just make our own parts for incidents like that. (No dealerships carry 60 year old parts anymore...):(
Good luck!

What kind of atv do you have that you cant' just replace the wheel? Everything I've seen still has removable wheels...

Its a polaris hawkeye. The newer models are called sportsman, but its the same atv. The wheel can be removed but thats not whats broken. The piece that is directly behind the wheel, the rim/axle, is broken in multiple places and has no hope of being fixed. I bought one online and they sent the right piece... For a different model year. So now another one is in the mail now. Hope yhey get it right this time...
