What you Americans call a Season we call a Series (usually)
But we also sometimes call a "TV Show" a "TV Series", which does seem like it could confuse others :P

So that would be the ones done in 2008? I watched everything available on Netflix last year which was up to season/series 6 with The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe as the last episode on streaming. But yeah I guess that batch starting with the Titanic in space was kinda lame now that you mention it.

Yeah it was dreadful :/
But tbh, Doctor Who is arranged in a weird way, the classic episodes (1963-96) had "seasons" but the 2005 comeback has "Series"
It goes like this:

Season 1-26: 1st to 7th Doctors
Doctor Who movie: 8th doctor
Series one: 9th Doctor and Rose
Series two: 10th Doctor and Rose
Series three: 10th Doctor and Martha
Series four: 10th Doctor and Donna
2009 specials
Series 5: 11th Doctor and Amy/Rory
Series 6: 11th Doctor and Amy/Rory
Series 7: 11th Doctor and Amy/Rory, Clara
