2012 MacBook Pro hooking up to LCD TV

Okay, so most computers have HD-MI ports that allow easy connection to a bigger screen. However, Apple is too good for that, so they don't put HD-MI ports on their computers. Is there any way I can hook it up to my TV without spending like $50 on some cord?

Im not familiar with apple these days, what kinds of video output or outputs do you have?

I believe you can buy an adapter. Probably find an after market one cheap or something/
