Hi everyone
So for as long as I can remember I have had a problem with my frenulum. It's not that it causes me pain or causes any retraction problems It's just that it doesn't look right. It's kinda hard to explain really and over the years I've tried to look up what it was I could never find anything. The real problem is that it gives me low self esteem when it comes to my penis. Over the years I have been contemplating circumcision since I am quite uncomfortable with the thought of any other kind of surgery. This however has many problems such as how do I tell my mother and will it be as sensitive afterwards. I know I could just wait until I'm older but because of my problem this would mean me not having any sexual contact with another person due to self esteem issues.
So basically I would like to hear your suggestions. It would also be great to get some advice from someone who has gone through the surgery as a teen or even advice from circumcised guys from the uk due to it not being very popular over here.
Thanks for reading and any reply would be get early appreciated. :)

There is a procedure called a Frenectomy, which only removes the frenulum. From what i understand, It's a small, quick and probably very painless procedure. Circumcision really isn't necessary - You might end up really regretting it afterwards as the change in feeling, from what a friend who was circumcised at 14 told me, can be difficult to get used to.
If it is really bothers you, I would mention it to a Doctor who will probably refer you to a Urologist to discuss a frenectomy. Good luck :)

I've not had the issue myself, but I've done a quick google search. Known as frenulum breve (or short banjo string to most people) there is an Op to sort it. I quote the following from a piece of text hat describes it:
"The GU consultant thought, as I feared, that I might benefit from surgery - not circumcision, thankfully, but something called frenuloplasty. It is difficult to describe in words what this involves, so he drew me a sketch.
The frenulum is cut vertically and the two tiny flaps of skin that this creates are sewn into the foreskin with a couple of stitches. These dissolve in a fortnight, and after a couple of weeks most men have fully recovered"
I've done a search on "frenuloplasty", and there's a lot of info (google even came up for similar stuff on the banjo string on the base of the tounge!). Circumcision would only probably be necessary in an extreme case. It does mean a visit to the doc. It may be easier to explain to your dad (if that's possible) to get the appointment made. If that's not possible, and you need to ask your mother to make an appointment, just try and be a bit delicate, and if she's understanding can wait outside whilst your doc checks you out. In terms of the doc, don't worry, he (or she)are medically trained for many different situations.
Good luck

a friend of mine took that frenectomy u say alex... they say u don't have to get exited.. if u get a boner there's a risk to open the wound.. but after it was healed... he was ok and back to sex again :P
it took him about a month... month and a half... so keep in mind that during that month, there's no masturbation and normally, no sports or ativicities like that...

NO! your frenulum serves as the junction for several clusters of nerves that exist to bring you pleasure. You didn't describe what you find unusual about it, but there are rarely surgical indications for removal.
I am (to my regret) circumcised, but I have frequently been able to masturbate to ejaculation, simply by rubbing my frenulum between my thumb & middle finger. (Usually when I am sleeping with cousins in my room, or in a hotel room with my parents),
For the Mods, I am NOT trying to tell a story here, just trying to encourage him to use extreme caution before surgery. I would hate to see the OP lose significant sexual sensation for cosmetic reasons,

I could very well be wrong, but I believe the term "Plasty" means remaking tissue for a more aesthetic look. (is: Rhinoplasty is a nose job) The frenulum serves to partially innervate the shat & glans of the penis.
We can, certainly agree that he should consult a urologist, They are usually pretty straight forward & will offer a definitive opinion

If circumcision would fix your problem them it is nothing to be feared. I had it done when I was 13 just because I did not like the looks of a foreskin compared to an exposed head. I have no regrets for loosing my foreskin and I would go through the circumcision again in a heartbeat.

@elmoc. the definition of -plasty is a surgical repair. From what it sounds like, the surgery on the frenulum is probably the better bet if surgery IS necesarry. I really wouldn't reccomend surgery for any other reason than it being absolutely necesarry as it comes with risks as in every other surgical procedure.

Don't get cut. Consult with a doctor for alternate options.

There's lots of procedures that can be done on the NHS that doesn't involve circumcision. That seems like a whole big effort for something that affects your frenulum
Hope that helps :)

I know this will cause some people to get upset. I am personally cut at birth. I do NOT regret it and I have great orgasms. I have friends who I have Jerked with who are not cut. It seems that there is no more or less sensation or sensitivity when we compare. Ok so one of my friends who is intact has foreskin problems and his dick looks really strange. He hates it and he is a really good looking guy who dates a lot. He told me that girls refuse to give him head. He wants to get cut to rid himself of his problem (his personal choice) sex is not enjoyable to him the way it is. Unfortunately here in Canada we have socialized medicine so elective surgery takes time.
I can understand people being attached to their foreskin and that's good but it seems that I read on VT that there seems to be a fair amount of guys with foreskin problems. Hell if it makes you happy to get your dick cut go ahead it's your dick. Maybe an inconvienence with the surgery but as one of the posters said. Having a wisdom tooth pulled was more painful. This my resolve some of your feelings with self esteem.
The question of whether you lose any sensation is only known by those of you that were cut in teen years. I know several poster here have said there is very little difference.
Some people prefer cut others not. Personally I much prefer cut over uncut. I asked my G/F what she preferred and she told me she prefers a cut guy as it looks 'prettier', she also told me that most of her g/f would rather suck a cut dick than one not... That's her opinion.
Again. I love being cut, I am really sensitive and mstbn is awesome I don't think I could stand it to be anymore sensitive than it already is. and I think it looks pretty. About 60 % of my friends are uncut and they agree it is hard to get a BJ.
Ok that's only my honest opinion.. I know I will get blasted from some of you but for the cut guys feel free to give me some support too.
It's a personal choice...........

Further to my last post... BTW here in Canada I understand that it was very common to be cut at birth in the 60's. It used to be done without a cost to the parents. Sometime in the 70's and 80's it started to be more uncommon and the government started charging to have it done. When I asked my dad about it he told me that he was cut and wanted it done to me. It cost him an extra $200 and he said my doctor would not do it. He had to get another doctor who was more of a specialist I guess to do it. The friends that I know are cut and that I can talk to about it all seem to be happy. Not one has ever said that they regret being cut. Thankfully at birth I do not remember it at all. Dad said he watched as the doctor did it and told me that I cried for like a minute after it was over.
Omgtheykilledkenny. It's your choice to get a doctors opinion and search the internet to help you make a decision. I doubt you will be disappointed. I don't know how old you are and see that you live in England where I understand it is not normal to be cut but I guess some are. Maybe talk to some friends about it who are cut if you can.
I know this is a simple analogy, but if your nose was crooked and lowered your self esteem you wouldn't hesitate to get it operated on. As teens we fight enough self esteem problems and trying to fit in. Talk to your parents and see a doctor.

I would talk to a doctor about the problem and see what they would suggest for you, there might be an alternative to circumcision

I'm circumcised and I have no problem with my frenulum. If you want to go cut there's nothing bad about it. Your dick head will be more sensitive though...
