How long should I wait?

So this girl I want recently broke up with her boyfriend (like a week ago). The thing is her boyfriend is kind of my friend. Would it be OK to ask her out after such a short time? She's already my friend too, does that make it worse?

NO!!! Wait for like two months or something like that. My older brother asked his friend's ex who was his then best friend out like 20 days after they broke up. Now both of them do not talk to my brother. Get to know her better or something like that. I think you'll know when the time is right!
