It could be two things
1. Fatty Muscle tissue The condition is called "gynecomastia" or non-neoplastic enlargement of the male breast. It can involve one breast or both and is almost always "self-limited" that is, it will go away once his hormonal activity stabilizes. (http://www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/885.aspx?CategoryID=61)

2. Sorry to say, cancer ( most likely isn't)

I have had this my self in my case it was option 1 thankfully I sugest you read the NHS artical and go to the nurse or Doctors

I would say that it's some sort of gland but of it hurts then that doesn't sound normal. I would get it checked out by a doctor. That's the best advice I can give you

Cancer?

Yeah - hate the word that's why I call it what I do.

I'd go to the Doctors just to be 100% sure, better safe than sorry!

Daja vu, I've seen this same thing posted at least twice before, either here or the other teen forum. Anyways, apparently it's a normal part of puberty.
But all the same, a visit to the doc will insure that.

Don't listen to the scary thing on the internet. This could simply be overreacting hormones in your body and it just forms a little ball of tissue that eventually goes away.

This happened to me once. Do not worry. Tell your mum! It really helps, it does hurt for a while then it just goes!
