I would say yes, based on how you both felt rather comfortable with each other but what I'm really interested in knowing, is why you aren't friends anymore. There's a difference to growing apart or having a major dispute with one another.
Now, if you've simply grown apart, perhaps try to interact more with him and see if you've still got something for each other.

I agree with this post. If you are really interested in having him as a friend you should work on rebuilding that relationship. However, if the only reason to have him as a friend is for the sex, then move on. Friendship is much more important than a quickie sex event.
